Re: Musk Buys Twitter; Purges Executives
So Frustration, do you feel silly praising Elon Musk for his commitment to Free Speech now that he's started suspending anyone who criticizes him?

I doubt it will die. It will just get smaller. Take away everything and just leave the idea you have to pay $8 a month to use it, many will just leave it just because of that.CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Sun Nov 06, 2022 8:45 pm I hope it doesn't die because I use it for advertising.
I got nothing to say here.

Apparently Musk is already rehiring a bunch of the people he fired.

Not $8 to use it. $8 to be a verified user.McAvoy wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 3:05 amI doubt it will die. It will just get smaller. All Elon has done so far is fire some overpriced execs and said "I want this failing platform to actually make money."hammerofglass wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 10:21 am$8 to not be shadowbanned.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 10:19 amNot $8 to use it. $8 to be a verified user.McAvoy wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 3:05 amI doubt it will die. I'm finding all of the hysterics about things that he hasn't done nor suggested that he is going to do to be hilarious.

Twitter: Elon Musk defends mass layoffs saying he had 'no choice'
That's decidely not "just a few overpriced execs" and you know damn well, that execs in particular tend to be "laid off" with severence packages which can feed a houndred workers for half a year on top of it.[...]
Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter, has defended laying off around half of the online platform's workforce, saying he had "no choice".
50% of Twitter employees were fired on Friday, according to Yoel Roth head of safety and integrity at the social media giant.
In a Tweet, Musk said "regarding Twitter’s reduction in force, unfortunately there is no choice when the company is losing over $4M/day."
Musk, the world's richest man, maintained that "Twitter's strong commitment to content moderation remains absolutely unchanged."
On Friday, Twitter Inc temporarily closed its offices after telling employees they will be informed by email later in the day whether they are being laid off.
Twitter had 7,500 workers before Musk's takeover, meaning around 3,700 jobs were lost.
[...]
But hey, it's only to make the company profitable and absolutely has nothing at all whatsoever to do with Musk being a complete twat and getting fucked by his own loud mouth for once and paying twice what the company is worth.

I don't use the platform myself but I am really looking forward to a few days from now when the new system is activated and everyone who bought a checkmark learns it turned into a "please bully me" sign overnight.

I don't recall ever praising Elon Musk.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 3:01 am So Frustration, do you feel silly praising Elon Musk for his commitment to Free Speech
Y'know, a lot of your problems with the Internet would go away if you learned to read what's actually in posts instead of seeing what you expect to see.
