14 hours a day means 10 hours of spare time. 8h sleep leaves you with 2 hours of spare time, during which you eat, keep your body clean and functional and travel to and from work. Plus, 14 hours of work is nothing you pull off several days in a row and still be an effective and functional worker. As someone who's had several months of 11h shifts on 5 days a week, I can promise you, you'll fall apart soon enough.

Countries that rate the highest on the happiness and efficiency indexes have a high minimum wage and a short working week. The only person that benefits from you working such long hours is the employer as they have to hire one less person.

As someone who was in the military who worked 14 hour days 7 days a week for several months at a time. Or slightly better 10-12 hour days for five or six days a week. I can tell you that you do get used to it.

Hell I know people who work ten hour days for four days but have a three hour plus commute time (as in driving, no trains or buses).

Hell my company (among others) who work 7 days on and 7 days off. When you work those 7 days you are working 12+ hour days. But you are on the road, jumping place to place troubleshooting. Staying in hotels, food paid for etc.

The main difference is how much you actually like your job. You like your job, you will be far more willing to work long days like that if it means a four day weekend.

I do. Something new and interesting everyday for me.

I would love to work 14 hour days. In my line of work, that opens up for the possibility of extra overtime days. Whole days of nothing but overtime pay.
