But then you have the distruction of Asgard. What should be an equally weighty moment and it's given no time to let the implications sink in and instead is imediately undercut by a joke.

Yeah. It's almost as if Waititi felt like there should be an ice breaker in such a somber scene. It really didn't work IMO either.

Which that scene alone shows the kind of humor used in Love and Thunder.

Like in Love and Thunder at least the whole jealousy of the axe could have been removed. There was absolutely no reason for that. Take away all of that and the movie would have been the same. Use that time develop Gorr. Motivations, limitations, who this guy is or was etc.

Maybe make the whole God party scene or whatever that was a bit shorter. Like I would eliminate the whole hard flicking part of it. Probably saves 30 seconds. But take away references to a orgy that saves some too. Just too much time on that God Super Friends Council thing.

Going by all the deleted scenes drifting around it originally had a completely different plot structure and was butchered in editing.
When tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty.
