WWII more signifies a perversion of western institutions by what we know as fascism (and/or communism ), nonetheless falling a hair shy of the human condition being violated, at least on a symbolic level.
I feel WWi is an appropriate fight for Diana because it was a relevant point in history where warfare developed beyond shooting lines. The creation of the gas in the film was quite symbolic despite being basically just mustard gas.

Plus makes sense, because ww1 is really just a mess of politics turning to war and makes sense, it as confusing to us as it is to her.

You didn't contradict anything. You just highlighted where I said he was Hitler's mentor and his name.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Wed Nov 16, 2022 12:34 pm You've read the part I quoted and am puzzled about? Or did you just answer out of reflex, not paying attention?
https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/ ... ludendorff
Erich Ludendorff
Erich Ludendorff was a German general who gained renown during the First World War, primarily for his efforts on the eastern front. He and future German President Paul von Hindenburg built a military empire in the east that lasted until the Germany’s defeat in 1918. Ludendorff was deeply antisemitic, an early supporter of Hitler, and a high-profile supporter of the false “Stab-in-the-Back” theory.
I mean, what are you disagreeing with?

WWI was essentially an 18th / 19th century war with more modern weapons.Thebestoftherest wrote: ↑Thu Nov 17, 2022 3:49 am Plus makes sense, because ww1 is really just a mess of politics turning to war and makes sense, it as confusing to us as it is to her.

Your not wrong
Re: Justice League: The Cat and the Canary
Not entirely correct. It was a war that started out with modern weapons that was used with 18th century tactics. As in it started out using those types of tactics which resulted in trench warfare. Then they developed and learned to overcome it by developing tanks and air warfare to overcome the stalemate of trenches.Riedquat wrote: ↑Thu Nov 17, 2022 7:31 pmWWI was essentially an 18th / 19th century war with more modern weapons.Thebestoftherest wrote: ↑Thu Nov 17, 2022 3:49 am Plus makes sense, because ww1 is really just a mess of politics turning to war and makes sense, it as confusing to us as it is to her.
If for some reason Germany decided to keep going we probably would have seen something like WW2 warfare to Germany where machinery like tanks and planes played a part in invading Germany.
That is of course with a huge loss of life probably due to Americans coming in fresh faced and all that. At least initially.
Got to remember that Germany surrendered at a time before their own country was going to be invaded and surrendered due to the knowledge they would lose the war. Unlike later on where they surrendered when their leader put a gun to his head and that was after his whole country was being bombed to hell, his army was battered and his civilian population was being killed or raped by the Soviets.
Offhand I can't remember when a major country surrendered at a time like Germany did in WW1 since now.
I got nothing to say here.

Soviet Union.
Japan basically averted an overpowered confrontation when Commodore Perry went out there at the behest American institution and its economic interests.

Should have clarified since WW1. Plenty of powers before that war surrendered or ended the war before it really got out of hand.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 10:13 pmSoviet Union.

Technically Russia surrender predates the Germany surrender, but yeah not like there have been many wars since then where a major power would be in a position to surrender anyway.
