This was a fun show. I'm definitely biased since I grew up with the 90s version, though.
It played the premise straight but is also a bit less power fantasy than I was expecting. Like Wednesday gets her clever remarks in but the other students are fully capable of snarking right back. Nobody is confused by her, they know what a goth is. She's very clever but she's also so overconfident she sabotages herself repeatedly. You know, like a teenager.
I also really liked the way her friendships were handled. You have a very protective big sister now; please do not resist.

One big begative: The effects on the monster are so bad that it pretty much has to be deliberate. Like it REALLY stands out. I don't know if it's meant as a joke or what.
