Let's be fair here: supervillains are entitled to be dumb and have nonsensical motivations because they are insane and evil. ''I want to make you suffer'' is their entire aim in life.

The heroes on the other hand are meant to be heroes. Saving lives, doing good, being selfless etc. So on that score, the biggest asshole prick in the entire DC universe is Superman and followed by any of the other genius tech heroes. Because with their technology and alien contacts they COULD cure cancer. They COULD get rid of fossil fuels. They COULD make our lives infinitely more comfortable and safe than they are currently doing.

Does Superman do that? No. He just hordes all of his supremely advanced tech in the Fortress of Solitude and spends his days stopping random muggers and the old supervillain which equate to far less lives saved on average than curing disease would. Seriously, he is an asshole prick with the blood of a million children dying of cancer on his hands. In fact, this is kind of the whole problem with DC and why (I think) its actually quite hard to translate DC to film compared to Marvel because DC heroes tend to be presented to us as paragons of virtue whereas Marvel heroes tend to be presented to us as ordinary - and often slightly assholeish - people. My point on Superman's robots is we already have a thread about the danger of weaponizing robots in police. So is it really a good idea.
The problem with 'the technology' that Superman has access to is could we actually use any of it? One example was give Leonardo Di Vinci a cell phone. What would he accomplish with it?
The handful of people that can use and or integrate kryptonian technology are one off inventors or insane villains. Not the best source to find disease cures. It may well be we need to get to a tech level we can properly grasp what the stuff does before we decipher it for a leg up.

And personally I think the government would piecemeal any such technology for their personal gains long before a civilian saw any benefit.
