Agreed there's not enough ace rep around.
All I can think of offhand is Todd from Bajack Horseman.

I'm not sure what that has to do with anything.
You're saying she didn't have any infatuations when it was right there in the second movie.

I mentioned this at the start but I never got into this relationship and part of that is how Wednesday seems to just kill him at the end, it just seemed needlessly cruel, even for this series.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Sun Dec 25, 2022 2:55 pmI'm not sure what that has to do with anything.

Another problem I think I have is that it honestly just feels tacked on. Why does Wednesday fall for him? It honestly just kinda feels hollow and done just because he's a guy and she's a girl therefore they MUST get together. It's honestly the same problem I have with Tyler and Xavier, their not really characters their just there to be love interests.
Again, I'm not sure if I ship Wednesday and Enid as I'm okay with their friendship and never turning romantic but I feel if Wednesday should end up with anyone romantically it should be with someone who helps her grow as a person and works together naturally and the only person that fits the bill is Enid.
And it should be noted that the show runners have said they're open to the idea but right now and just seeing where the story is going. Again, I'm up for either one and, well, the actors off-screen flirting does make it seem like they're at least pushing for the relationship to be made canon.
Honestly I just don't want Wednesday to be in a relationship with anyone who exists JUST to be her love interest.

I honestly thought it was coherent enough, narrative wise. The idea was that she was subtly objectifying him and he was able to project that back at her in a unique way, which drew her to him. It's consistent with the undertone surrounding what's later going on with him.Winter wrote: ↑Mon Dec 26, 2022 2:44 amI mentioned this at the start but I never got into this relationship and part of that is how Wednesday seems to just kill him at the end, it just seemed needlessly cruel, even for this series.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Sun Dec 25, 2022 2:55 pmI'm not sure what that has to do with anything.

Well death in story karma terms (as far as I come to understand it) comes after a trial of personal honesty. Follow the relationship drama, and it should be pretty telling after the fact.

Tyler was being used by Wednesday and I don't think she was doing it because she liked him at all. It was basically him forcing himself into her life wherever he could. Even forcing the idea of being in a relationship with her.Winter wrote: ↑Mon Dec 26, 2022 2:44 amI mentioned this at the start but I never got into this relationship and part of that is how Wednesday seems to just kill him at the end, it just seemed needlessly cruel, even for this series.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Sun Dec 25, 2022 2:55 pmI'm not sure what that has to do with anything.

In that way I think they could have done better writing wise of making her reject it than just being overwhelmed by Tyler because that's what it felt like. Anything Xavier was doing, Wednesday was actively rejecting.
I don't think there was a love triangle going on. At best Xavier was the only one out of the three that possibly had true romantic intentions, at best. You could even argue he was just trying to be a friend to an outcast like him.
I got nothing to say here.

He was getting involved while she was just indifferent. Xavier wasn't really trying to get involved as much as yeah just get to know her and relate to the part of her that understands what it's like being a normal goth (as opposed to Tyler who is a freakish normie). Tyler represents more her indifference with her own people, which was probably more exemplary of her own personal issues.McAvoy wrote: ↑Mon Dec 26, 2022 7:23 pmTyler was being used by Wednesday and I don't think she was doing it because she liked him at all. Re: Wednesday, Wenclair and the Unneeded Love Triangle
As luck and coincidences would would have it, Adams Family Values was just on the telly. Being as it is one of those 10 movies that British networks seem to put on every Christmas holiday along with the Great Escape, The Snowman and repeats of James Bond.
Anyway, here's how I read this relationship between Ms W. and Joel: there isn't one. She hated the simp and wanted him to die.
How would you describe Morticia and Gomez Adams as a couple? Me, I would describe them as equals. They do everything together. They are cut from the same cloth, they work in tandem, they are truly in love. And they are essentially immortal. Bend them, burn them, beat them. They still stand. This is Wedensday's example of what a relationship is.
Now let's go back to Wednesday and Joel. He wears Gomez's clothes at their meal (AKA he's a follower) he claims he wants to be her slave (which Wednesday reacts in disgust) he has allergies and an inhaler (he is showing weakness) and then follows this up by telling him exactly how a TRUE Adams would murder someone - and then does. Whilst smiling.
Basically, Joel is everything she wouldn't want in a man. He's a whiny little nerd who wouldnt last five minutes on a torture rack. As sick as this may sound, I think her ideal man is her own father - eat your heart out, Dr Freud.

I also think it's worth making the point that AF:Family Values is deliberately anti-conservative. That is what the "Family Values" of the title means - it was term thrown about by "Ned Flanders" types to refer to the traditional husband, wife, kids, car in the garage, Christian mold. The director has been very honest about this. The whole camp scene is about being forced to fit into a society that hates you, be it because you are the wrong colour, the wrong race, or LGBT. That is what the riot was about - a rejection of the white, middle class social norms.
Meanwhile, what is happening over in the Adams household? Morticia gives birth to perfectly ordinary child - an outcast in the Adams household if you will. And how does Gomez respond? Its with the happy cry of "it's an Adams!"
I've given my In-universe view, but my meta view is that Wedensday is circumventing the happy ending. Remember the time and place this film was made in. Boy gets the girl. Boy converts the weirdo girl into being normal. That is how these films rocked.
But Wednesday? She ain't about that life.
