The Sudden Turn Around in the Fan Reception of Willow (TV Series)

Post by Winter »

When it first premiered the general fan reception on every major review site was generally negative. I myself was more mixed as I didn't find anything in the show bad but I didn't like it as much as the film it was a sequel to. However, in recent weeks the shows reception in terms of fandom has changed rather greatly. Just as example the score over on Rotten Tomatoes for the fans was at 30% while over on Metacritic the score was 29. Today the score on RT is around 66 while MC is at 49.

Not critical darlings but it IS an improvement over the original scores as the show has gone from being seen as awful to, well, what my view of it was which can be best summed up as "Eh, this is okay."

So, what happened? How did this show's reception change so quickly?

Filtered out some review bomber bot entries would be my guess.

Yeah, I did notice that a LOT of the negative reviews basically boiled down to "This gay, it bad".

I'm the opposite I was in love with the early episodes but am much more iffy on how it ended.

I'll watch season 2 if it happens though.

Perhaps, but given how the show was cancelled due to low ratings it can't have been that beloved. The ''bots'' in this instance are from people trying to get the show renewed.

(I've never watched the show nor was particularly interested in it BTW. This is just an observation).

My friend, please don't be so naive. ''Pause'' and ''cancelled'' mean the exact same thing. Also, needlessly rude. Don't take things so personally. Its only a show.

I feel like it's the case of the non-critics watching it.

Willow is...fine.

It's silly, has light worldbuilding, and is attempting to be Xena more than The Lord of the Rings.

And that's great.

But people who want it to be The Lord of the Rings will hate it.
