Do you want to martyr Trump? Because this is how you martyr Trump. His support will not drop even a single digit on the back of this and will in fact only harden it. I've heard the conspiracy theory that this is exactly what Biden wants, given how DeSantis is clearly a far more credible threat. It'll be far easier to beat Trump than someone with an actual political brain.

Oh, and didn't Bill Clinton also pay hush money to a woman he banged on the side? What's the difference here then?

Ah, well. Details. They couldn't prove that Trump rigged the election with Putin's help. They couldn't prove that he launched an insurrection. They couldn't make an impeachment stick. But they'll get him for having a bit of sausage on the side, damn it!

They haven't released what the 34 charges are yet but apparently it's mostly the false business reporting stuff that he's pretty openly admitted to.

I don’t think that anybody thinks that this is a political victory.

Bill Clinton didn't claim it as a business expense and deny what the business expense was. This would also count as a felony based on the theory that this counts as an illegal campaign contribution, as the payoff happened in the final stretch of the campaign. Payoffs as illegal campaign contributions came up before with John Edwards, but it ended up with the jurors deadlocked.

It's been well known that Trump's business model has been about bending the rules, laws, finding loopholes, and if caught keep it in court for years until someone gives up.
I got nothing to say here.

Yes, I think it's a well known fact, that Trump is a rich person.

It's more than just that. He would intentionally not pay workers and let it go to court and keep that going until the people suing him gives up or takes a far smaller deal. He has done that many times before. Just as an example
I got nothing to say here.
