BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: Sun May 28, 2023 2:51 am Phase 4 mostly seemed to be the result of streaming development and 10-episode movie making. The shows are all well received for the most part, though I didn’t find them very cohesive except for wandavison and doctor strange.
I am kinda glad that they are taking advantage of streaming and trying a different format that would not be practical otherwise. WandaVision and Loki are basically live action OVAs which probably would not work without the streaming market. It opens some new possibilities they should be taking advantage of for the MCU and Star Wars.
Covid was also still a big cofounding issue that disrupted their plans I believe, but yes it was an appreciable effort imo.

People complained about the 13 episode standard which worked really well for comprehensive movie-caliber narratives and preceded Disney+, which lead to the 10(minus) standard that verges on mini-series scope. Which I'm reminded of every time people stack these narratives up against the movies or whatever.
There is a reason why comics reboot themselves every ten years or so and that's because they become inaccessible to new readers. The MCU has the same problem thanks to streaming. Requiring new viewers to watch thirty movies and several series is bad enough, but requiring them to also take a sub out to Disney Plus? The MCU has a viewership ceiling of its own making.
It’s true, I think. Streaming is in a weird spot where it is either directly competing with the movies or is it’s little brother on the small screen.

Luckily the shows aren’t integrated that tightly, though I’ve felt for a while that shows and movie coordination is the future.

As far as phase 4 is concerned, I don’t think you have to catch up on everything before it. It’s just that it’s not a very strong central narrative.

Yeah it did alright. It's a suitable approach for a satire as far as I can tell, and an appropriate first season introduction for a character that had plenty of room to stretch before doing more with the other shows (as well as her own subsequent seasons).
You are talking about She-Hulk?

There are review videos that do a better job than I can and put up clips for the points. But basically she is not a good lawyer. The whole thing with Frogman and using non- standard fuel for his super hero costume is one. She should have known before court that he used the wrong fuel instead of being surprised in court. This is lawyer101.

This whole thing trying to date people was bad. The execution of it, the message of it and storyline wise, was just weak.

Remember in the first episode when she is 'infinitely better' than Hulk as handling her emotions? Well later on she trashes a ceremony going full on Hulk.
I think they should hava had Jenny deal with Doc Samson to those scenes, because the whole check your privilege vibe doesn't work when Banner was hunted down like an animal, meanwhile she get childish insults. These two things aren't comparable.
There was a strong feminist theme throughout the series. So it having that cringey scene about how much better she is than Banner because she is a woman makes sense.

One thing that bothers me though is that Frogman dude who got his super suit from the guy where a whole episode was done to just meet up with him because he was so particular. She is She-Hulk, cousin to the famous Hulk of the Avengers. Whereas Frogman dude was rich?

And Jennifer did not ask before the court date about what fuel he used. Like it would be one of the first questions you ask, did you alter the item in anyway from the manufacturers standards.
I got nothing to say here.

I do find it fascinating how so many men saw that "I'm better at managing my anger than you because society forces me to never express emotion in public especially anger and I've had decades of practice" scene as 'cringy' and every woman I've heard an opinion from saw it has her spelling out the blatantly obvious.

Wait what?
Full quote: "Well, here’s the thing, Bruce: I’m great at controlling my anger. I do it all the time. When I’m catcalled in the street, when incompetent men explain my own area of expertise to me. I do it pretty much every day, because if I don’t, I’ll get called ’emotional’ or ‘difficult,’ or might just literally get murdered. So I’m an expert at controlling my anger because I do it infinitely more than you!”

Oh yes, how could we forget about Bruce, the one loyal Koopa turtle to the Mario clan.

Its cringy because of who she is talking to, her cousin who she would know about his problems and issues past and present. Even if they were going that route, she really contradicted that during the whole award ceremony.
I got nothing to say here.
