Discussing the "Backlash" of Aloy and Seyka's Romance in Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores

Please keep all comments civil.

Okay, I normally don't talk about this as I'm here mostly to just have fun and talk about silly things but this has honestly gotten out of hand and is just annoying me and I need to talk about it or it's going to drive me insane.

So, as I've talked about before in the recent DLC Expansion Pack for Horizon Forbidden West Aloy is given a love interest in Seyka and yes, it is canonical that Aloy is in love with Seyka as confirmed by the developers and the fact that Aloy will always admit to having romantic feelings for Seyka at the end of the game at Varl's grave. And the backlash to this relationship has been so unbelievable negative that regular videos on YouTube that are in support of this relationship or are just showing clips of it have now gotten several dislikes and negative comments even though only a couple of days ago they had more likes and positive comments.

The reason I bring this up is because, again, this has gotten out of hand as most of the negative comments are just homophobic and Repetitive. I've seen the same comment made under different names more times than I can count and it's just so annoying. Not from this site, but YT, Google and of course Metacritic.

Like it's literally just the same 5 or so comments repeated hundreds of times.

I get someone who wasn't into this relationship because they felt it was to rushed or that they just preferred Aloy with someone else like Erend, Petra, Kotallo, Avad, Vanasha, Ikrie and Talanah or just wanting her to be asexual. I get that and most of THOSE comments are fine, I don't agree with them but we can agree to disagree and just move on.

It's not like LGBT content is rare or anything these days and most of them don't seem to be getting that much hate. The Owl House, a show LOADED with LGBT content is very well loved and the reviews by fans mostly reflect that where even the most negative are more about feeling the humor is bad or disliking the animation or feeling it's to dark for kids. Hell the upcoming Hades II Melinoë is confirmed to be bi or pan and will have the option to romance people of any gender. Something else to keep in mind Elden Ring also included same sex options for players who might want to play as such and the method in how it's handled was actually a direct response to how From Software had handled SS Romances in the past. Breath of the Wild also gave players to dress up link in women clothing and Tears of the Kingdom might very well have the first Same Sex couple in the series between two side quests characters. So, why is the internet singling out Horizon?

To close this out, in Uncharted: Drake Fortune Nate and Elena meet for the first time in that game and spend about 7 or 10 hours together and are in a relationship at the end of the game. And the only reason these two don't kiss was because kissing is hard to animated in CGI and it was a reference to Jak and Daxter where Dax would always interrupt Jak and Kiara when they would go to kiss another by having Sully interrupt Nate and Elena when they went to kiss.

No one has any issue with this.

Aloy and Seyka spend pretty much the same about of time together (roughly seven hours) and they kiss at the end because CGI has come a LONG way. "Fans" decide that the series is ruined and start going out of their way to down vote and harass anyone who supports this ship... But seriously way?

Again Please keep all comments civil.

My guess? A few channers just got a particular bug up their backsides and released the bots on this one. No idea why. The arbitrarily final straw for them? You ARE right, though. This WAS beyond the pale.

Also, of course these types are cool with Nate and Elena, they were straight. Their problem is almost never with the EXICUTION of the relationship.

Yeah, often what enrages them is the fact that it exists at all. They keep saying that they would be fine with it if it wasn't so forced of course what's actually forced changes greatly. What they really want is for it to to show up at all because they think seeing it will somehow turn them gay. I grew up during the late 80s and 90s, I was given almost purely Heterosexual Cisgender Protagonists. I'm a trans lesbian and none of this effected how I saw myself, or rather how I wish I could see myself.

When I was in collage I had a friend who had the most interesting take on this subject. He was aiming to because a famous action director and we would get into debates on what would make a great action film. What I liked is how he always excepted my ideas of having mostly LGBT characters and even had many in his own stories. One day I asked why he was so open to the idea of LGBT characters in his works or the works of others, he said "Most people honestly don't give to shits. If you're into action you're here to watch cool action scenes. If you're a romantic you want a good romance. If you're a comedy nerd you're looking for a good laugh. No one cares about anything besides that and if they do they're idiots who likely would know a good action scene if it kicked them in the balls."

I know that most of the idiots posting shit like this haven't even played Burning Shores on the grounds that they've admitted to never playing it or watching any of the videos related to it. Are their lives REALLY THAT BORING that they have to go and complain about something they've never seen or played?

1) Yep. Same boat, though I ended up a cispan dude.

2) I've had similar ideas, though a lot of them were video games.

Duke Nukem, but the "babe" needing rescued is a male scientist and the PC's boyfriend/hopeful fiancé.

Devil May Cry but Cthulhu and the rival demon hunter (think Lady with a bit of Nico) is a transwoman.

An adventure cartoon adaptation of Wonderful Wizard and Marvelous Land of Oz where the trans aspects of Tippetarius/Ozma and the romantic subtext between Dorothy and Ozma (both probably unintentional, the books are from the 1910s) are played as far to the hilt as I can. Princess-Knight Consort Dorothy. It has a ring to it. Plus, a bad pun on "Home is Where the Heart is".

3) Yeah, and they'd like it to STAY that way. Boring, simple, favorable. They see progressivism as a destabilizing force against the "natural" order (Read: "Cisgender, Allosexual, Heterosexual, Neurotypical, Able-bodied, Anglo-Saxon, Baptist-Christian, Republican, Men of Wealth... preferably born pre-Watergate" at the front and "everyone else" at the back). An order where THEY tend to be closer to the front of the line than most, of course.
