Thing about Trek is, warp should be difficult to do - emphasis on the *should*. Cochrane broke the light speed barrier in a ship cobbled together out of bits from a collection of metal huts.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Sun Jul 30, 2023 10:34 pmPakleds.CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Fri Jul 28, 2023 7:18 pm1. The Bajoran solar sail ship managing to hit warp speed with levars and cogs to pilot it though. That was the good one. Yeah, tachyons. Of course lol.

Based upon what though? I mean like where in the lore specifically does it declare how hard it’s supposed to be to achieve warp 1?clearspira wrote: ↑Mon Aug 07, 2023 1:46 pmThing about Trek is, warp should be difficult to do - emphasis on the *should*. ..What mirror universe?

The Pakleds give the impression that they'd struggle to invent the wheel.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2023 7:24 pmBased upon what though? Oh but they did! Their iteration was square, but it was still a wheel and used in exactly the same way. It had the upside, that they didn't need to invent breaks, further down the line and without breaks, you can Go.

You should have seen how brilliant the entire Pakled race was... before the Temporal Cold War.

Warp 1 is light speed. Something that is beyond the wildest dreams of our science. I realise that we've dropped any pretence of Trek being OUR future - but I am certain that it used to be. That's why the writers got so touchy about the date of the Eugenics Wars.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2023 7:24 pmBased upon what though? Anti-matter is another one. We've barely made a gram of the stuff. Cochrane managed to scrape together enough to build an engine. That is kind of taking the piss a bit.
