HOLY SHIT!!!
youtu.be/AKxEREJqgU
I turn my back for one hour and suddenly I get the news that we're getting a Remaster for Dark Force, aka the ORIGINAL Death Star Plans Theft Story. The OG Storm Trooper turned Rebel Hero, Kyle Katarn.
People, do you realize what this means? Lucas Films has been actively avoiding bringing up the Legends Content and they're releasing a Remaster of a story that tells a VERY different story on how the Death Star Plans were stolen. How Different? THAT'S THE PROLOGUE OF THE GAME?!?! Yeah, Kyle stealing the Death Star Plans is how the game starts!
This is MASSIVE!
Remaking Knights of the Old Republic is one thing I mean it remains the most popular Star Wars video game of all time, of course it was going to get made (yes I know it's delayed that's besides the point). But Dark Force? This is a popular game but I honestly thought that Disney and Lucas Film would just remake stories that would be safe i.e. not contradict the Disney Era canon. The Rouge One Squad were the ones who discovered the plans for the Death Star and every Jedi died at Luke's School but if Disney and Lucas Film are bringing this story back... What does this means for Star Wars?
I mentioned this a while ago that there was rumors of In-Universe Reboot but there wasn't anything to really back it up just a rumor that happened to fit a handful of facts (most notably that time travel exists in Star Wars and that it can be changed).
I know this is a BIG leap but I have to wonder if this Remaster does well? If it's a major hit that proves that stories from the Lucas Era still has a great deal of life will Disney and Lucas make more Remasters?
And from there raises the true question, is this the first domino to fall leading to that rumored reboot?

I think that Disney needs money and nothing they are currently doing with Star Wars is producing it. I've got this feeling in my bones that Star Wars is going to start talking about ''the multiverse'' in the coming years. It seems to be the ''get out of jail free card'' that all of these big franchises are going with nowadays.

They were teasing bringing back the World Between Worlds that was in Rebels once for the Ahsoka show so they might have a multiverse as early as tonight.

Meaning everything and nothing is relevant in the franchise. Also just results in me not caring about anything that happens.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 9:02 am They were teasing bringing back the World Between Worlds that was in Rebels once for the Ahsoka show so they might have a multiverse as early as tonight.
Btw. finding it funny that it's often the exact same people who're happy for Star Wars Legends to be "recanonized", who usually scoff at the Trekies complaining about the re-written Star Trek canon. "Oh but you can always go back and watch that again, it's not gone". Well, you can go back and play that SW-game/read that SW-book, can you not?
And for the record: Fuck the infestation that Multiverses have become. It's just become a cheap trick to pretend bullshit writing that the viewers/listeners/players/readers didn't like, never happened. An infinite retreading of already written/watched stuff. Modern media is increasingly becoming an eternal ouroboros of paid nonsense.

"Oh cool they reused this idea I liked in a new way" is an expression of joy. "Curse them for changing things" is an expression of bitterness. Not sure why you would even compare them, apples and potatoes.
Also I'm no joke rereading the Thrawn trilogy for the umpteenth time so you're not wrong there.
But yeah multiverses are overdone and boring and I hope the suits get bored of them soon.

Bad idea don't do. Frankly the world between world should be forgotten.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 9:02 am They were teasing bringing back the World Between Worlds that was in Rebels once for the Ahsoka show so they might have a multiverse as early as tonight.

I read that many years ago. I remember thinking it was pretty damned good at the time but I've been nervous about spoiling a good memory if I revisit it.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 9:51 am Also I'm no joke rereading the Thrawn trilogy for the umpteenth time so you're not wrong there.

Yeah, saw the trailer earlier. Nightdive are THE team for FPS remasters (Turok, Blood, Quake I/II, Doom 64, System Shock, Rise of the Triad, etc.), so this should be good.
