Two minutes into episode three and Ahsoka drops "learning to call on the force requires a deeper commitment". In Tales of the Jedi, the last thing she appeared in, we saw that Ahsoka did that completely instinctively as an infant.

Either the writers aren't paying any attention to their own work or the character is completely full of shit.

Yes. Welcome to modern writing.

Y'know how in Star Trek, the phasers stopped doing anything after a while? Its one of Chuck's longest running gags. The ultra-advanced weapon that sometimes can take out a mountain and sometimes gives you indigestion.

Lightsabers have now joined that rank. Qui Gon Jinn must be pretty pissed right now that you can apparantly walk off being stabbed in the chest by a beam of super hot plasma. I heard someone point out that lightsabers are only lethal against men in the Star Wars universe - and well... are there any women who die from lightsaber wounds in canon? I genuinely cannot remember.

This rot started as early as the Disney Sequel trilogy. From what I hear the writers were too scared to show MaRey Sue getting her hand chopped off. Not realising that showing her get seriously injured in her duel against Kylo would have destroyed the accusations of her being a Creator's Pet in a heartbeat.

As Kami said, welcome to modern writing.

Oh, and, anyone else worried that the new galaxy mentioned in this series is going to be OUR galaxy? Disney wouldn't be foolish enough to set Star Wars on Earth in the future... would they?

If you think the lightsabre thing was bad, just wait until you see episode 3 and what it does to space combat. They're basically using Tesco Value lasers.

So Sabine's getting ret-conned into a Force Sensitive or Force Sensitivity is being ret-conned into a thing everyone has and people just need "discipline"? Ah modern writing. No wonder the Sith just keep creeping up out of nowhere, when everyone has the ability to manipulate the Force and is just a bad day and some "discipline" away from crushing entire planets with a thought. Oh and of course, a single light-saber wielder can act as a deflector-shield for a huge (dead) ship in a space battle where multiple attackers can come at the ship from multiple angles, because somehow shooting the Jedi on the hull of the ship is more important than just blowing the damn ship up. This show is so shit.

Rian Johnson already did that with Broom Boy.

I share your hatred of this but that does a raise a question: were midichlorians ever retconned? Because if not, then Lucas himself has already made the Force something that anyone can have if you just have enough bugs in your blood. This BTW is why i am convinced that the OT was a happy accident. Without people telling Lucas ''no'' we got The Phantom Menace. And without anyone telling Kennedy ''no'' we've got Disney Star Wars.

Honestly the stuff like blocking starfighter scale blasters with lightsabers is so goofy that it's entertaining just on that level. Shame most of the show is just. so. very. tedious.

I'm half expecting to find out the apprentice and Inquisitor are actually allies trying like hell to keep these idiots alive.

"Making someone Force Sensitive by injecting them with midichlorians" is incidentally a big plot point in the prequel part of the Darths and Droids campaign webcomic.

Midichlorians were hushed out of the window for the most part and what you're alluding to, that everyone has access to the Force because midichlorians are everywhere, is a bit bogus. Remember, "the Force is an energy field created by all living things, that surrounds everyone and binds the galaxy together" (Obi-Wan in "A New Hope"). That does not come with everyone being able to manipulate or even sense the Force to a sufficient degree.

I'm not so much fuzzed by Ahsoka being a point defence, I am much more fuzzed about the general stupidity of the space battle. Here you have a ship with multiple sides, sitting dead in space. The ship is so large, that it would take Ahsoka at least several seconds to get from one side to the other. The attacker has six ships at her disposal. We're in space. In 3D Space. And they all keep making flybys from the same angle. It was bad enough when they kept attacking the ship from the rear for the entire battle, where it's sole defence turret was located, despite demonstrating the capability of overtaking Ahsoka's ship repeatedly...

We both know it's not clever writing...

Funny you should say that and thus compare the show to a setting where the actors intentionally try to make the story and setting fly off the rails for the lolz.
