Scenes from Heir to the Empire That Would be AMAZING Trailer Scenes

At this point it's almost certain that we're getting some kind of Adaptation of Heir to the Empire at the very least and with that in mind I went back and re-read the comic adaptation of the books (which are honestly really good) and there were a few scenes that I saw that would be fantastic to see just from a marketing point of view.

Scenes like Joruus C'baoth shooting Force Lightning at Thrawn only for it to suddenly be blocked by what may seem to be some kind of force field. Luke surrounded by Noghri assassins, Yoda's hut with roots over growing over it, Lando's shield ship flying next to a sun and of course the "Millennium Falcon" crashing as Han, Leia and Wedge run for cover.

That last part should defiantly be followed by a smash cut to black cause it would just be shocking to see what appears to be one of the most iconic space ships in pop-culture crashing to the ground and apparently being destroyed. If I was making this hypothetical trailer I would also go out of my way to NOT shot the Falcon again, really get people to sweat for a bit.

Honestly there are a lot of great moments in these books that would be amazing on a visual level and so many moments that would just be great to get people hyped via marketing.

I can definitely see scenes from it being adapted, but too much of the plot relies on the political and strategic situation which is completely different than where Disney canon went for a real adaptation. Without the Galactic Civil War still being ongoing with the New Republic and Imperial Remnant controlling roughly the same amount of territory and fleet strength it's fairly nonsensical.

What isn't an animated work these days? Most films and shows include a great deal of CGI or as much practical effects as possible which makes them animated properties.

All joking aside and focusing on the idea of a TTT adaptation and Heir to the Empire specifically I mentioned before that with the upcoming remaster of Dark Force there's a good chance that we may end up getting a Multiverse in Star Wars which would allow there to be a TTT adaptation.

Personally I would rather this be live-action. Don't get me wrong Animation is a severely underrated media and I wouldn't mind it being animated but my thought is because this is a direct sequel to the Original Trilogy and the TOT was live-action I would prefer TTT to also be live-action. Silly, yes but that's just me.

Honestly Heir to the Empire is more akin to a spy thriller as there's just as much action as in, say, A New Hope or The Empire Strikes Back. Dark Force Rising is the real outlier as it is more of a political thriller with very few action scenes.

Focusing on Heir for a moment while there's a lot of politics most of the story is about characters moving around, gathering information and trying to stay one step ahead of their enemies using limited resources with a greater emphasis placed on their tools. Most of the second act is Luke trying to outsmart Karrde and Mara while he is cut-off from the Force and Thrawn is mostly hiding in the shadows trying to stay hidden.

Remember Heir is set 5 years after Return of the Jedi and in that time the war has apparently ended with only small pockets of the Empire left which also what's going on with the Disney canon right now.

Again the real odd one out would be DFR which is more focused on the politics. Most of the action is set during the climax of the film but I honestly think that fans and causal movie goers would be fine with this. Keep in mind that despite criticism at the time The Phantom Menace WAS successful commercially and that's the most politically focused film in the series at the time of this writing.

Hell fans are ANNOYED that the Disney Sequel Trilogy hasn't included more Politics.

And if done well most people would be okay with the political talk as long as it was interesting, which it is in Dark Force Rising. To switch series for a moment Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 notably has very few action scenes in the film. Most of the film is people just sitting around and talking. The action scenes are few and far between and the vast majority of action takes place in the third act. And Vol. 2 is considered one of the most popular films in the MCU and the MCU has dealt with politics and has been met with great success so I don't think having a it in a Star Wars film would be an issue.

And The Last Command is mostly action with little to no political talk.

Honestly the biggest issue with adapting TTT is how so time we spend in the characters heads but as the comic adaptation showed it's overall easy to work around that.

Elseworld. Written yourself into a corner? Elseworld. Modern writing, ladies and gentlemen. Modern writing for an audience that neither cares nor is part of the fandom, but just joining to be part of the group.

Elseworlds or stories set in an alternate continuity or that used time travel that have done well.

Having several continuities is and has been commonplace for literally decades and the number of it has not increased but remained basically the same it just feels like there are more because a few of them have been hugely popular.

And as an aside, the is nothing stopping people from enjoying two different continuities. I mean are going to tell me that while the Batman films and Batman the animated series was coming out (at the same time mind you) that people stopped caring for both because there were two? And a multiverse can and HAVE had consequences and on going continuity has often neglected consequences for the sake of "We only have 3 shots of the ship flying through space."

Keep in mind that Star Trek, which maintained an ongoing continuity for several decades, often had an issue of things going to hell, crew getting hurt or killed and it would all be back to normal by next week. Hell Trek is very guilty of "Because Time Travel Undid Said Event" throughout most of it's run. Double Hell some of the series' most popular stories WERE Time Travel or Multiverse.

Every storytelling device is and always will be a double edge sword and there will always be those who have no idea how to actually use it well. Flashpoint is a great example of using time travel and a multiverse that isn't great and (in the case of the Flash movie) completely terrible.

But then there are stories that do this well. Take Spider-Man: No Way home which also uses time travel and MV. No Way Home is seen by many as one of the best Spider-Man films with many comparing it, favorably, with Into the Spider-Verse and because it has several continuities it works to give these stories what many of them never had before, closure.

There are good ideas that can get people invested in the idea of several versions of the same story over and over again and there are some that as has been done for literally generations.
