Speaking of older senators, looks like we lost one. I didn't know much about her so I'm mainly picking up things based on other's reactions.

Unfortunately, a lack of brain-activity does not preclude someone from a position of power. Argueably, a lack of a beating heart is even a prerequisite.

She did fantastic things and was an amazing force for good for decades. I don't blame her for her past actions as at the time of her death, she was someone who probably was suffering some long term effects to her memory. That should not overshadow her accomplishments.
