Van Helsing is a lot like Hocus Pocus for me, it's a film that is drenched in early 00's Cheese but just like HP it's Delicious cheese, it knows what it is and has no shame in being itself. This has some of my favorite werewolf designs (I LOVE how the skin Peels off whenever they transform) I love how casually evil Dracula is in this movie and while the heroes are rather bland their likeable enough to carry the film to the next action set piece. And speaking of that the action in this film is a lot of fun, over the top and memorable. It feels like a fan film made to homage the classic Universe Horror films and I mean that in the best way possible.
I mean just compare this film to the 2017 The Mummy movie which is boring. It has a weak villain, weaker heroes and the action scenes are honestly pretty forgettable which is odd given Tom Cruise's track record with action movies. Honestly my only complaints about this movie is the scene with the villains after the death of the first of Dracula's bride is a little too goofy even for this film and I wish the film was in Black and White the whole way through.
For those who haven't seen the film the prologue of the movie is filmed in Black & White and truth be told it looks fantastic. I can see everything that's going on and the over the top acting and silly effects honestly work better in this style.
A few years ago I actually found someone who made it so most of the scenes of the film were in Black and White, like Van Helsing's fight with Mr. Hyde or the village fight with the Brides, and it looked great.
I honestly don't get why this film wasn't done in Black and White all the way through. Not only would it have looked great but it would have helped the film standout more.
But what are your thoughts, do you think Van Helsing should have been in Black and White all the way through or was having it be a colored film after the Prologue the right call?

A lot of movies look good that way. You probably have a setting on your TV for it.

The movie should have kept Kate Beckinsale alive and been a franchise of hot Angel Dude and Hot Vampire Huntress.

And I think it was fine in color because it showed some truly fantastic sets and costuming. The vampire ladies alone deserved to be seen in all their glory. So did Kate Beckinsale's red top and leather pants.
