Rotten Tomatoes indicates the audience doesn't appreciate it nearly as much as the film critics do.

These days, that can just mean that there was a non-white actor in the cast and the deplorables got all up in arms. I wouldn't put too much stock in it.

It could, if the pattern held. But it didn't happen to TFA, it didn't happen to Rogue One, and somehow it did happen to TLJ. I'm beginning to think there's a wider than anticipated "mad at this because what it did to our Star Wars lore" reaction from long-time Star Wars fans than anything of that sort.

Summary assessment: Watchable. Better than R1, I, and II.

Just saw it.
Spoiler free thoughts-maybe a little too long but still a good addition to the Star Wars franchise. I won't call it my favorite Star Wars film but it's a great film.

It will be interesting to see if The Last Jedi follows the usual pattern of sites like IMDb, where it starts out high for the first week or two and slowly drops until it levels off after a few months. If it holds steady around that number, I think you could take it as a strong indication that a specific group of people were upset rather than general audiences.

The 7 to 7.5 range, on the other hand, would be really low for a big blockbuster in a popular franchise. Even movies that are fairly obvious not-great movies, like Justice League or The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies manage to reach that.

I doubt that's something that the powers that be are going to take too seriously, however, given that the movie is in the books and what the box office numbers look like.
The owls are not what they seem.

I have been hearing mixed reviews about this movie (mostly coming from fans and not critics). So, is it worth it and should I go and give my money to Disney after they announced they are buying like everything from FOX Entertainment?
