I didn't know that about the Aragorn thing, I'd taken it at face value as have the Tolkien YouTubers I follow who've mentioned it.

O'Neill was massively strong with it too. He just didn't seem to be quite as natural at handling it. Even Beckett was ranked highly on the ''Atlantis ATA gene scale'' that was brought up from time to time which is why he was always dragged along to sit in the chair.

Do we define the gods as royalty? Jesus is ''the King of Kings'' after all. Because in that case, could we include all of the human offspring of gods throughout the ages who have magical powers?

Thankfully, since that was a retcon, the story still works without it. Whether his bloodline helped him doesn't matter, as he still put in the work to learn and improve his abilities.

Sorcerers in D&D/Pathfinder, as well. At least, usually. You COULD be the distant descendant of a dragon or divine, but you could have instead been grown in an alchemy lab or belted with arcane energies (same with the "planes-touched" races like Tieflings, Aasimar, or Genasi). Very "comic book" in execution.
