It is quite telling that of all people to choose to give an interview to, it is a disgraced news anchor from a channel that admitted to pushing Trump propaganda it didn't agree with for four years.
There will be very little of substance in this but plenty of talking points for the anti-war Republicans who think that Putin did nothing wrong.

Would you go to the Kremlin with an intent to showcase any truth about what's going on through there? More specifically would you be expecting to walk out of the country after doing so?clearspira wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 7:23 am It is quite telling that of all people to choose to give an interview to, it is a disgraced news anchor from a channel that admitted to pushing Trump propaganda it didn't agree with for four years.

The Kremlin bought and paid for Carlson years ago, might as well get some use out of him.clearspira wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 7:23 am It is quite telling that of all people to choose to give an interview to, it is a disgraced news anchor from a channel that admitted to pushing Trump propaganda it didn't agree with for four years.

I think to exact opposite to be honest. Inviting over and then murdering a journalist from CNN or the BBC would bring us closer to WW3 than what is happening with Iran right now. I doubt even Putin would be that dumb.Thebestoftherest wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 10:26 pmI wouldn't expect to leave that room, without a body bag.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 6:03 pmWould you go to the Kremlin with an intent to showcase any truth about what's going on through there? If there’s one administration in the modern western world that could get away with it, it’d be them.clearspira wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 11:17 amI think to exact opposite to be honest. To the suprise of no one, Carlson lapped up what Putin was saying like a thirsty dog. Apparantly even the corrupt Russian media fell in love with him. He should have a drink with Steven Seagal.

The interview was (as expected) just a regurgitation of all the usual russian lies and alternative historical interpretation:clearspira wrote: ↑Fri Feb 09, 2024 11:18 am https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-68248740

- Ukraine is an artificial state, created by Stalin and the name "Ukraine" is a polish invention
- Chmelnyzkyj asked the Tsar to "take ukrainian lands into firm control" (Chmelnyzkyj was an insurrection leader in the Polish-Cossack War, 1648-1657)
- Hitler's ideas are realized in the West (of note: When Russia speaks of "Nazis", they do not actually mean Nazism as we'd understand it. You genuinely should understand "Nazi" as "Anti-Russian" specifically and solely, when you read or hear it from a russian source.)
- NATO promised to not expand to the East, but lied (no such promise was ever given by anyone with any authority in the matter and even if, writing such a thing into the treaties ending the cold war, was not agreed upon by both sides)
- The entire lands east and south of the Dnipro are historical russian posessions
- Russia did not agree to Ukraine joining the EU (nicely displaying russian hegemonial and colonial hubris, not recognizing Ukraine as an indipendent state)
- Russia was hoping for western acceptance in the wake of the soviet collapse, but was cheated
- In 2005 and 2014, there was a western backed coup and Ukraine started the war in 2014
- Russia agreed to the Minsk' Accords, but the ukrainian authorities did not comply
- Russia will be "Denazifiying" Ukraine (see above, how to actually understand this phrase)
- Russia and Ukraine nearly reached a peace agreement in 2022 in Istanbul, but UK's prime minister Johnson convinced Ukraine to continue the war
- Russia will never send it's army into Poland, unless Poland attacks first and Moscow has no interest in the Baltic States (wierd, because his own propaganda channels tell the exact opposite up to and including creating tsunamis to drown the UK through thermonuclear means and, at the very least, re-establish soviet boundaries)
- Russia is always willing to seek a peace, unlike Ukraine, which refuses by demand of the USA
And, of course, the oh so peaceful Russian State threatened thermonuclear war over the Crimean Question.
"If you get shot up by an A6M Reisen and your plane splits into pieces - does that mean it's divided by Zero?

Re: The Russian Invasion of Ukraine
So genuine thing, I know why Republicans have bent over for Putin, but why so many american conservatives? Have things gotten so bad for them that they genuinely, unironically, believe that this man is a better leader than democracy?
Science Fiction is a genre where anything can happen. Just make sure what happens is enjoyable for yourself and your audience.

Re: The Russian Invasion of Ukraine
People don’t want to pay for the war itself they aren’t much concerned about picking sides.
