I don't disagree with that statement but at the same time it does need to be acknowledged that stabbing someone 37 times is extremely unusual and the article even points that out. This is someone who almost certainly was one bad day away from stabbing anyone, trans or not.

Again, I don't disagree with you, violence against LGBT people is a big issue. But the danger here is that we end up focusing too much on the big eye-catching stories and not on the sad fact that the biggest risk to LGBT people is from their immediate family and friends. That's what needs to make the hidelines because ultimately ''Behind closed doors'' is the most dangerous form of violence precisely because it all too often goes completely undetected and takes on many different forms. The roaming maniac is just the cherry on top of a particularly unappetising cake.

What this does speak to however is the absolute shit show that is internet dating. It is a tragic irony that the people who most need the internet to meet someone are the people most likely to be at risk of it.

It's not unusual for transgender murder victims. People don't just want trans people dead, they want to mutilate their still-twitching corpses beyond all recognition. That's why I bring up tranpshobia.

Is there any relevance to her being specifically described as a BLACK trans woman? Was there a racial element to this? Because otherwise that really seems like an irrelevant detail to add. Kind of offensive too actually as one could be led to infer that somehow your skin colour makes your death more or less tragic.

Black trans women specifically are disproportionately singled out as targets, it's been a thing for a long time. The actual article does mention that.
