Stupid question time. If a lawsuit charges the defendant an amount well beyond their means to pay what exactly entails after that?

Alex Jones really has no means to pay that $1.5 billion in any kind of way except a payment plan. Basically you need him to make millions off his program to pay the bill. Let's say it's like a mortgage deal we are talking about 50 million a year for 30 years. That is still alot of money even for him.

So was this amount just done to end his career? If he decides to work at Home Depot is he still on the hook to pay that too?

It's an interesting question, because it's easy to make it impossible for someone to maintain a living through their primary skillset; OTOH when someone is an inveterate grifter, preventing them from using those skills is a social necessity.

I recall learning many decades ago that the law has a lot of options to accomplish what it needs to here, without being exceedingly unfair, but I never learned the specifics beyond the superficial. School was a very long time ago.
