Yes. But physical media. One of the advantages of DVDs over VHS was that they took up less space. I've still got a large pile of DVDs and Blu Rays, I haven't found it worth the time to copy those. I think the difference with them and music is (beside the file sizes and time taken to rip) that whilst I'll frequently listen to the same music I'm not going to watch the same film or programme very often.
The reason why I started to create digital copies on my computer was that when I was on my second deployment in the Navy I reached the limit of space I had in my locker to carry those binders. By that point I had three large binders. One for TV shows and two for movies. Also by that point we were all trading digital copies to each other which got me started anyway. Ipods and the Playstation PSP were big at the time and external hard drives were reaching 500 gb too.
