Mayweather was.... eh at best. Most of the episodes were focused on Trip, T'Pol, and Archer and those three just don't have the same dynamic as Kirk, Spock, and Bones. At best I would say that they were supposed to play the supporting characters like in TOS' Uhura, Scotty, Chekov, and Sulu did. Although, I would say that the TOS supporting characters got more development than Reed, Mayweather, Phlox, and Sato.
