Star Trek (TOS) The Changling

This forum is for discussing Chuck's videos as they are publicly released. And for bashing Neelix, but that's just repeating what I already said.

Kirk had to work too hard for that win.

Just look at how the Satellite of Love crew dealt with Monad in comparison.

I must admit to being a little disappointed at the lack of probe jokes, but I suppose that just means Chuck is a bit more mature than me.

So what is the episode "The Changling" about, a miniature Chinese guy?

That was from Laserblast. Here's a collection of the crew's antic's that episode:

I thought I remembered MST3k referenced this episode. Episode 706 Laserblast?

Its very Lovecraftian...

Granted Gene always just viewed them more as an annoyance...

With their frequency you'd think there would be a dedicated branch of Starfleet whose only job is to find and KILL these things!
I think it shines a light on Roddenberry's religious beliefs. However much he was irreligious the frequency of this kind of antagonist makes me feel he was more of a religious person who lost their faith and things continued to bug him than someone who simply left that all behind him.

This episode has one of my favorite deadpan Spock lines, "Captain, your logic was flawless. We are in grave danger."
