After reading comment section between Homelander versus Superman, I have to create this.
Homelander for those who hasn't watched The Boys is their version of Superman. Except no heat vision or freeze breathe or anything else. He has super strength, super durability and he is super fast. However, he is orders of magnitude weaker across the board compared to Superman. Also there is a general consensus that he doesn't know how to fight others that come close to his own power level. Superman has faced foes that would rank above him. Darkseid and Doomsday. But there are people who say Homelander can beat him.
Such is the life in a versus debate.
Is there anything you can think of where such a versus debate compares?
Ridiculous Versus Fights
Ridiculous Versus Fights
I got nothing to say here.
Re: Ridiculous Versus Fights
First, from the clips I have seen, Homelander does have heat vision. That said he would need to be smart, or actually listen to someone smart and fight Superman in a kryptonite laced room. Then Homelander has a chance.
For a more interesting battle. Omniman versus Superman?

Omniman. Superman may have the greater feats, but he's a pure hero and so I disregard most of his feats as propganda and fanwank. If he were nearly as powerful as he allegedly is, then crime would stop and nobody would ever attack Earth. That this hasn't happened yet, is a clear indicator for Superman-stories being all lies and exageration.

... Congrats you had the single worst Superman take I ever heard in my life and that is impressive.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 6:18 pmOmniman. "No one would ever mug anyone ever again if we have more cops on patrol." Is that basic argument.
Science Fiction is a genre where anything can happen. Just make sure what happens is enjoyable for yourself and your audience.

People say that cause they unironically love Homelander and wanna be him. People are WEIRD.McAvoy wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 5:55 am After reading comment section between Homelander versus Superman, I have to create this.

Actually I totally brain farted that one. I was for some reason mixing up Omni Man and Homelander. Omni Man doesn't have heat vision.Nealithi wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 4:38 pm First, from the clips I have seen, Homelander does have heat vision. That is a bad take.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 6:18 pmOmniman. Superman may have the greater feats, but he's a pure hero and so I disregard most of his feats as propganda and fanwank. Superman's power varies greatly depending on what era of the comics and also what media or show you are looking at. For example the late 90's animated series intentionally depowered him and is considered one of the weakest version of him. Though in later Justice League series he would eventually get a bit stronger.
Superman has alot of extremely impressive feats like taking over Atlas holding up the Earth, holding a black hole in his hands, pulling/pushing planets around etc. Because of this Superman is well known to fight at the level of opponent and only go beyond that level when the fight is getting out of control. Superman actively pulls punches and even makes adjustments to his movements so he wouldn't accidently shatter bone on a slight tap.
Omni Man isn't on that level as Superman. Homelander appears to be on the level of animated Super Man.

Re: Ridiculous Versus Fights
One of the latest debates but certainly not a new one is Vader versus Batman. I have been seeing this on my social media feeds lately. I also saw that fan film too.
Chance encounter and Batman is dead, especially if Batman has no idea of Vader's abilities. Vader can do that choke thing if he has no time to deal with Batman. Maybe Batman can toss something to distract Vader but again, the Force.
The key would be prep time and Batman knowing about Vader. As in taking advantage of Vader's real weakness, the suit.
Disable it and you weaken Vader who probably would have to rely on the Dark Side to keep him going. It woudk have be a device that goes off, as anything thrown at Vader would be defected or brushed aside.
But even, I would still give Batman 2-3 wins out of 10 chances even with prep time. Realistically of course.
Problem with Batman is that he has probably the thickest, most invulnerable plot armor I have ever seen. A mere human that can go toe to toe with super humans infinitely stronger, faster and more durable than him. Once dodged Darkseid's Omega beams which no one has done before.

Re: Ridiculous Versus Fights
My very first thought was a Batman classic maneuver. He throws a batarang, if it is caught or deflected you lose since it was an explosive batarang. Dodge and you will have lost concentration. In all three scenarios Batman breaks the force choke. What Batman needs is to see what a lightsaber can do before he tries to block it with his gauntlets or it will be a jigsaw puzzle in the casket.McAvoy wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2024 2:08 pm One of the latest debates but certainly not a new one is Vader versus Batman. I don't know, I think Bruce would know he probably doesn't want to touch the glowing thing.
