Serious Question: How Do You Think The Upcoming Harry Potter TV Series Turn Out with Rowling as an Executive Producer?

Depending if Rowling gets worse (not sure how but who knows) HBO might just decide "scrap it we don't want the backlash."

As a trans ally, not a trans person, I'm done with Harry Potter.
It was good anti-fascist literature when I was 12 but the author is now supporting fascist talking points like trans people not being persecuted by the Nazis.
It's like Enders Game.
Abandon ship.

Agreed. The only way I would support this is somehow where Rowling doesn't get a single dime.CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 3:42 pm As a trans ally, not a trans person, I'm done with Harry Potter.

I mean maybe if Rowling once said once or twice on Twitter something about not being pro-trans then maybe I could watch it. But nearly her whole socisl media presence is about being anti-trans.
But if she did a Offhand remake once or twice then maybe it would be more acceptable. Out of hundreds or thousands of posts mind you.
I got nothing to say here.

As a transwoman I'm only mostly done with this series. I will not support this idiot by buying anything associated with her until one of two things happen. One Rowling apologizes AND works to improve herself OR the series is taken completely out of her hands and she gets nothing from it anymore. Neither is likely as she seems to be doing everything to make herself worse as time goes on and I doubt she will give up the one and only thing that she's positively tied to.McAvoy wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 11:36 pmAgreed. Again when Elon Musk himself tells you to tone down the anti-trans rant and talk about something more positive then you know you've fucked up.
However, I've not given up on HP completely. I still own all the books, they're right here whenever I want to read them and thankfully Rowling's horrible views aren't really in her older works. And to discuss the series as a whole, I again like that most of the people who've worked on it have spoken out against Rowling, including the actors who played, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. It's like Harry, Ron and Hermione are all standing against their creator to say this

And I still have my own ideas for how to adapt this show which I would still love to do just to see her squirm over a transwomen working on her series, and doing a better job of it because I really am that damn good.

The second they rip the rights from her cold dead hands I will buy the whole series on blu ray and the books, just to spite her. Once I knoew she doesn't get the money.

That's what I am saying. The moment when Musk himself tells you to tone it down then you should get a clue. But nearly her entire social media seems to be dedicated to be anti-trans nowadays. So I wouldn't be surprised if the trans community and it's defenders want nothing to do with her anymore.Winter wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 12:35 amAs a transwoman I'm only mostly done with this series. I have seen all the movies and even read the first book. I do mean to read the rest of them but I will do it where she gets nothing from me.
Who knows maybe she will tone it down and then eventually not talk about it all and then one day has a realization. But I wouldn't count on it.
I got nothing to say here.

Rowling is incapable of backing down because if she backs down, she's the bad guy.

More accurately she'd have to acknowledge she's become the villain. At this point she is no better the the villains that she said embodied everything she hates and I have no idea if she's aware of this or if she is and has just decided to embrace being a terrible person. Honestly, if by some weird twist of faith she and I somehow ended up in a debate about the treatment of transmen and trans women I would just keep calling her Umbrage, Voldemort and Malfoy because if she's going to act like those she hates might as well call her out on it.CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 3:18 am Rowling is incapable of backing down because if she backs down, she's the bad guy.

Re: Serious Question: How Do You Think The Upcoming Harry Potter TV Series Turn Out with Rowling as an Executive Produce
I honestly think she can't because she's a true believer. She completely believes trans people can not exist because gender equals sex equals a prison you're born into. She also really, really hates being a woman and doesn't believe there's anyone who doesn't (her manifesto from a few years back talks about that openly). So trans men to her MUST be just trying to escape womanhood, trans women MUST all be faking it for nefarious ends because she can't conceive of anyone actually preferring it, and trans kids MUST be being manipulated into faking it because reasons. And then the gender critical cult's overarching conspiracy theory that there's no evidence for any of this and plenty for trans people being real because it's all being covered up out of political correctness neatly keeps her from questioning why reality doesn't match her fantasy.Winter wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 3:52 amMore accurately she'd have to acknowledge she's become the villain. The only way out for her would be to grow up and change basically her entire worldview, until then she's trapped in the delusion.
...for space is wide, and good friends are too few.
Re: Serious Question: How Do You Think The Upcoming Harry Potter TV Series Turn Out with Rowling as an Executive Produce
Hates men too as she is convinced that the only reason to be trans is to invade woman's spaces for nefarious purposes. I used to think it was sad that she was clearly so damaged by those abusive relationships she was in before she got big. We're well, well past sad or finding any kind of understanding or empathy at this point.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 8:00 am I honestly think she can't because she's a true believer.
