I don't understand why anyone dies in Star Trek Picard, TBH. Mostly it's "Remember this character that you liked? We're bringing them back to kill them."
"Believe me, there’s nothing so terrible that someone won’t support it."

It's really the "only he does it but he acts like there's a gun to his head forcing him" part that I don't know what the writers were going for.
I mean he's unremittently an asshole to everyone on the ship. Forcing Picard and Riker into the Lower Deckers bunks for example, eating before they arrive, and so on.
There's a whole bunch of problematic features to him. The idea that character karma couldn't be applied to him is silly.

How did you feel about what Row did in TNG?

They really do that. They kinda killed off Q. Hugh, Icheb and Ro. Oh and Shelby.

Anyone else I am missing?

Technically they rekilled Data, just to double tap him, and don't forget the most beloved character in the franchise, Elron.

Okay maybe that more than makes up for Season 2 existing.
Science Fiction is a genre where anything can happen. Just make sure what happens is enjoyable for yourself and your audience.

Yeah I forgot about Data. Such a incoherent series.

I figured Data's death in Picard Season 1 was more because Nemesis overall tainted the honored tradition of poetic send offs that started with Spock in WoK... But really Data's plot throughout the movies was already the most standout of anything going on.

Yeah I just figured it was a plot thread left over from Nemesis about B4 having Data's memories and experiences and literally killing that fan idea that Data could be resurrected through B4.

Honestly should have left it at that. Like I said there was no cohesion between each season. Not like I was expecting one season led to the other but at least don't tread over the same thing. Q dies but not really. Data dies but not really. We see the Borg Queen again but it's OK because this is our universe version of the Queen.

Just bugs me that we and they knew Patrick Stewart wasn't going to have a long running series. They could have game planned a bit for it. Or at least just undo things that was done in the previous seasons.

See I'm glad they didn't plan cause s3 is such a drastic course correction, and is all the better for it.
