Assuming Rowling either A) Gets her head out of her ass or B) Gets the HP series taken away from her so she no longer gets any real money out of it if given the chance to write a story set in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter what story would you want to tell?
For I've always had this idea for a direct sequel to the original series called The Hogwart's Four. Set after 2 years after the Epilogue of HP it focuses on 4 friends who comes into conflict with a new adversary who seeks to, you guessed it, Take Over the World
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1W7c8QghPxk
The four characters in question would be for each of the four houses of Horwarts, hence the title, with Farah Amalthea (Hufflepuff) Rorek Malchoir (Slytherin) Lily Potter (Gryffindor) and Alyx Morpheus (Ravenclaw).
Unlike HP the series story is starts during the third year of the main characters though we do see the 4 meet in their second year (Rorek is a transfer student American and didn't join in until the second year) and the 4 are mostly well acquainted at this point but don't all become friends until this year.
The series is obvious an ensemble show but Farah is the overall focus of the series due to her being revealed to be an anomaly in the villains plans due to her unique nature which I won't go into detail now unless anyone here actually gives a shit (won't blame you if you don't).
I actually had a lot of fun writing this idea back in the day as I had a real hard time trying to use the HP as a blueprint to make the story work but to also make it feel like a different series then HP. One of the twists from the original was the villain who I worked to make the exact opposite of Voldemort both in where he is revealed in the story, his relationship with the heroes and his overall goals.
However, one of the funniest ideas for this series was with the character Alyx. Alyx was the character I had the hardest time figuring out as she didn't really seem to have much to offer in terms of character. Rorek is the trickster who normally the most lighthearted but when angered is almost disturbingly calm. Lily is basically Ginny from Book 5 onward but with her father's snark and Farah is the heart of the Four yet has her limits and will all out the others on their BS. Alyx was obvious the brains but she didn't have much of an arc or any real character beyond "Is the smart one". The character finally clicked with me when I decided to make her transgender and this was about a year before Rowling started her little insane crusade against us.
What was more funny then that, Alyx and Lily end up in a romantic relationship. Yeah, a character who will likely bare more then a passing resemblance to the series author falls in love with a transgirl and remains in a healthy relationship with her.
I swear this was just a coincidence as making Alyx trans just made her an interesting character and she worked best romantically with Lily.
Another major twist is that the story of the Four continues after they leave Hogwarts with the four teaming up the the original Trio as they go to war with the villain and his own army and the whole thing kinda turns into Star Trek as they get a sky ship as it's the best way to deal with the villains.
But that's my idea for a sequel series to a series I still love despite the authors stupidity.
So, yeah, I'm back. Not to 100% but again, talking about silly things like this helps to keep me sane and we've found a good breeder and will be able to pick up a new pup this December. I'll always love my Pond and I hope to find him again as one of these pups, wish me luck on that and thank you all again for your kind words from my last post, it really helped. Sincerely.

I'd do a "The Thick of It" style show set right at the beginning of Hermione's administration. All these progressive reforms she wants to do, and a labyrinthian mess of a bureaucracy full of obstructive lifers trying to look busy until pension and Death Eater collaborators that they have to be run through.
Media frenzy because someone in the Centaur office made a bad joke and it messes up union negotiations with the guards that replaced the Dementors in Azkaban, and Hermione's version of Malcolm Tucker (who is incidentally Draco Malfoy) tells the cast to Deal With It, that kind of thing.

I would write a prequel.
There is a lot that you could do with Dumbledore v Grindelwald and the James, Lily and Snape paradigm that we have not seen.
Incidentally... I wonder why she never has written another one? The Harry Potter books have never left the bestseller lists after all. Although depending on what input she had into The Cursed Child let's hope she doesn't.

Having too much fun putting out a thousand-page detective novel every year would be my guess.clearspira wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 11:04 am Incidentally... Makes it clear the system enslaving house elves is wrong or make it more like employees with some rights.

John Constantine, Defence against the Dark Arts teacher.
No lie, I'd watch the hell out of that.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 8:57 am I'd do a "The Thick of It" style show set right at the beginning of Hermione's administration. I would take a character like Newt Scamander. Gentle and awkward, he cares about muggles and the magic creatures. Everyone assumes the war hero is his brother. But the truth is it was Newt. Because he does not like to lord over people and think. He uses asymmetrical tactics. Just like how he beat the unbeatable wand by using a creature and not a wand.
He does not work for Dumbledore, nor return to Hogwarts. He works out of London as a consultant. Both for the Aurers and Scotland Yard. Often times having to balance them both at the same time.
His best friend is a former American soldier turned baker. Who helps him on cases when Newt needs perspective.
When asked why he tolerates the baker. "He understands me." When asking his friend. "You go home, you sleep on your bed, tucked tight. It is like laying on a cloud and wrapped in a net. He sleeps on the floor with his boots on."

Does this new Harry Potter series have to take place in the modern world? Why not during the Victorian age or earlier? Or the formation of it all?
I got nothing to say here.
Re: Silly Question Time: If You Were Hired to Write a Harry Potter Story How Would You Go About It?
The Wizarding World is as old as our own so there is no limit to where or when it can take place. I for one would love to know what WW2 was like for the magical world, or what the reaction to Muggles Landing on the Moon and if there were any deals to get moon rocks due to magical properties it might have. Hell one idea for a fan fic I had was a crossover between The Wizarding World and the Chronicles of Narnia (none canon to either series) where a Wizard and a Muggle girl find themselves in Narnia with the Wizard hunting Death Eaters who found Narnia and hide there and are now ruling it.
There's honestly a lot that can be done in this series which is why I've been so disappointed with most spin-offs and sequels as they're either just okay, not that great or are just trying to the Harry Potter 2.0.

Just admit that outside of Hogswart people don't care for th wizarding world, for stories.
