I liked it. I liked the totally unsubtle reminder that Star Trek is a post-capitalist utopia, in a way that should be clear even to people with the poor media literacy common to Republican trek fans. I liked seeing Mariner try to figure out how to exist as a less self-destructive and more responsible person while not loosing what makes her distinctive.

I gotta say, with Captain Becky Freeman, I did NOT expect things to escalate that rapidly. It still makes sense in hindsight though. It's an evil motivation I haven't really seen before.

I was also expecting things with Tendi to be more drawn out and, well, messy. I wonder if it was originally going to be longer but they decided to change it when they found out they were getting axed?

I just wonder how expensive Lower Decks is compared to Discovery or Picard or Strange New Worlds. I mean each episode is half the length of the others. You have to deal with the combination of CGI and practical effects, building sets etc. Hiring extras etc.
I got nothing to say here.

And apparently from what I am told every episode have space combat action and stunt works.

In one of my books, the supervillain main character meets an alternate who took over the world. He wants to switch because he hates ruling.

That's cool.

Honestly I'm surprised we were able to find a Beckett Mariner Freeman more messed up psychologically than Season 1 Mariner without going to the Mirror Universe.

I wouldn't trust anything until an official announcement is made.

I fully believe that Mike McMahan is pitching a movie, and that the cast are on board, but whether Paramount will sign the checks is another matter.

I really liked the episode for multiple reasons.

NEW EPISODE

1. Jennifer and Mariner broke up obviously but as a multi-arc relationship and Star Trek’s second on-screen queer relationship (barring Jax’s one off), it deserved a conversation. At least IMHO. Jennifer also was a character many of us liked
for being as awful as she was. Plus more Andorians are awesome.
2. Jet becoming worse and more Boimler like while Boimler becoming more Riker-like is a cool arc even if it kind of throws Jet under the bus. Then again, Jet is the kind of guy who probably would do fine in astrometrics or retiring to a science base. I love the Redshirts homage at least. It inspired one of my book series (Space Academy)
3. What do you have to do to be demoted as an Admiral in Starfleet? Visit the Genesis planet? The guy needed to be cashiered.

Refresh my memory please: which guy specifically?
