I'm not gonna lie to any of you, I am both shocked and horrified by the turn out of the 2024 election and what it means for us going forward. I am a trans woman who is just starting to transition and now the commander and chief is someone who will most likely make laws against me because I committed the crime of existing in front of him.
At this point I am seriously considering trying to get a visa and leave the states with my family.
But at the end of the day I'm still an optimist and optimists and just proactive realists. I know how bad this is I know we're in trouble. This is the first time and convicted felon who attempted insurrection was nominated and won a presidential election and everything leading up to the election, most notably common sense, pointed to him losing.
Few to no presidents that lost a first term won a second, the keys to the white house was pointing to Harris winning, FiveThirty8 and 270 to Win both pointed to Harris winning. Something happened and I don't know what other then we're more fucked up then I thought.
But there is still hope, midterm elections are in two years so that could turn around, there might be a recount and that could switch things. Not to mention there's a chance there will be an investigation into voter fraud given a number of oddities and, I don't know what this says about me other then even getting this involved with politics is really bad for me, Trump is clearly not in the best health. He can barely walk straight, he's overweight, showing signs of dementia and he's clearly under a great deal of stress and is constantly angry.
My point is, we still have hope and with any luck things will turn around quickly and we can all go back to not giving a shit about this rotten orange and get on with our lives.
To close this out, you all know I'm obsessed with Sam from Tomb Raider. For 11 years it looked like she would never return but then, on October 25th at 11:00 AM second 2 for The Legend of Lara Croft was announced and fully confirmed that Sam would be back.
Time will tell how this all turns out but we've done all we can and, if by some strange turn of fate, we get a chance to do a Re-Vote I'll go back to vote for Harris again and hopefully this will turn out for the better.
I'm not a fool, I know this is bad but I've never stopped believing in the good in people and I still have faith that things will turn out okay. Just have to have hope.
In the meantime I'm going back stick to the Sci-Fi and Fantasy page here whenever I have something to post and stay away from the news in general. I have other things to attend to that will be taking a lot of my time, for example my mom will be starting a reaction channel so I'll be helping her with that, I'm going to make my own review channel over on YouTube as well as continue to work on my own scripts and just get out of the house and get some fresh air as often as I can.
Thank you all for being here with me, for hearing my ideas on silly things and I hope you all find something to help you in these hard times. And if something happens that turns this all around, in a good way, quote something from this post to let me because I am staying away from the news page here as long as I can.
But I hope this helps you and gives you some hope. Just keep holding on.

Re: Hold Onto Hope
Winter, I am making efforts that if my trans best friend in Florida needs to move for her own safety, she can move into my family's house (we recently gained a second one due to tragic circumstances).
I am reassuring my other trans friends, you included, that I have their back. That I love and support them.
But hope implies I would not see the next four years as a hellscape at best and possibly longer.
Hope is not an option.
I will try to survive and help others to, though.
100% agree with your "fuck the news" attitude, though. They bear responsibility for putting trump's name in everything.

Hate to say this but keep your head down. Everyone here that isn't a a cis-white. I am not saying stop being who you are but you may have to pay attention to the area of where you live.
Even after the four years I do wonder if the Democrats end up setting back the whole LGBT+ community to just attain power in politics. Maybe as a hard setback from the past four years. I don't know.
But those of her that's part of the trans not in a regular blue state, keep your head down.

There's some small smattering of hopes.
If they don't get rid of the filibuster and Mitch McConnell says they're not, then Democrats can block most of the legislation they might institute.

Mitch McConell is no longer the Republican leader in the senate, his word means nothing.CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 9:46 am There's some small smattering of hopes.

I'm trying, but hope is slippery as a wet soap bar, while hatred is sticky as tar.

I am hoping that there will still be some Republicans that will have common sense and help block any of the radical agendas Trump and his cronies will propose.CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 9:46 am There's some small smattering of hopes.

Like the talk about dismantling the FDA, making vaccinations voluntary etc. Make Polio and Smallpox Great Again.
I got nothing to say here.
