The Earth of DC, Where is Everything Located?

Personally when they said Gotham was south NJ I put it in Salem. You get all the terrain that Gotham is known for with river and ocean access.
Putting Metropolis literally across the river like New York and Newark would be too odd for the two crime fighters.
I would say Metropolis replaces Angola by the Bay. It again gets the ship traffic it should from the comics, while not being on the doorstep of Gotham. Some have said New York became the trade hub it did for the canals built to the Great Lakes. So another city or cities being larger hubs because those canals took longer can make sense.

Washington DC as the capital of the United States exists in the DCU. Wonder Woman is a diplomat based there.

DC is much more fantastical in its narrative foundation while Marvel is a bit more sci-fi. DC is more metaphorized and recognized commonly as more prolific in its heroic caricatures while Marvel tends to be more relatable and consistent with general expectations of the human condition. Bruce Wayne as a non-supernatural hero still is so far detached from the expected human condition that humanity of the audience isn't particularly transplanted in any nuanced fashion to the DC environment as sci fi convention does.
