I wasn't really impressed with the writing on Mariner this episode, but then again we got a lot of good stuff for her in the previous episode, so maybe I shouldn't complain too much. It just felt like she was in Default Silly Mode, and it might have made more sense for Rutherford, Boimler, or Tendi but didn't really click for her.
Also yeah, one of my friends did some T'lyn big melons fanart. Can't say I blame her given the setup. Some kink prompts are too good to resist.
I admit I got a lot of good laughs out of the Suspicious Lurker guy, especially that he's enough of a bother Mariner sometimes has to chase him off with a broom.

That was verging on being too meta and self aware early on but dang if it didn't bring it back around.

The giant space roly polys were unnecessarily adorable.

I liked the evolved-devolved joke with Barnes. Works in-universe and as a meta joke how Star Trek approaches to genetics and evolution don't make much sense.

Oh my Kahless, that was even better than T'Lyn's giant melons!

I have been watching the whole season and haven't had a chance to comment due to outside factors. But I think I can say for everyone:
Poor dumb Harry.
Poor dumb Harry.
It's OK to make mistakes as long as you don't make the same ones. If you do then you're not learning.

Damn, that was a hell of a ride.
Also that was NOT a 'ship I ever expected to see on-screen in any form.

Re: Lower Decks season 5
This was a good episode but I do have mixed feelings on the concept of parallel universes because I am a big fan of Sliders (well, half of it), Marvel's Exiles and Spider-Man No Way Home.
Ultimately, it really does feel as if all stakes have been removed. What does it matter if this universe ends in the grand scheme of things? Nobody is special, nobody is unique, nothing is actually important or meaningful.
The multiverse is a very nihilistic concept imo.

I'm reminded of a story Chuck told on a Trek review, in an attempt to quickly paraphrase it, about a whole beach of dying starfish that have been washed up. So many of them it's beyond counting, and one man is walking up and down tossing one at a time back in the sea. Someone asks him why he's bothering. He tosses another back into the sea, pauses, and says 'It mattered to that one'.
That's how I see it, there's could be an infinite number of other mes typing this random comment on a message board on it, but I'm the only one that's me, and to me that's enough to make that matter. See also the ending of Witches Abroad in the Discworld series where two sisters are trapped in an infinite mirror of countless reflections with the only way is to find the real one. One is stuck forever trying to find it, the other one gets it imediately and points to herself.
