I just think it seems strange from a character writing perspective, especially since he already doesn't have that much going on for him. Feels a little iffy from a disability perspective too.

The "he's actually in love with Tendi but his emotions were being supressed" joke at the end did kinda piss me off too.

Although I have to keep explaining to people that my roommate I hang out with and I aren't a couple so I'm biased. I swear you adopt a couple cats and folks think you're married...

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Tendiford. It seems like the second most Basic ship on the show.

So, I've finally found the time to watch it.

VERY interesting that shot fired against the DISCO Klingons at the end there, isn't it? Mike McMahan is being very coy about it and has basically said ''take it to mean what you like'' but the possibility of ejecting DISCO out of the Prime Universe is a tasty one. As I say, not really a fan of multiverses in general, but it probably is the best of both worlds as the DISCO fans still get to enjoy their show just as the Kelvin fans still get to enjoy theirs.

And if they do, fair play to them. They recognised that they pumped out a shocking piece of crap and MAY be taking steps to remedy it. That is more than Dr Who and Star Wars is doing right now. But we'll have to see and the Section 31 movie is sadly not filling me with hope.

My final review of LD is ''this is the best Star Trek show since DS9.'' It me a long time to get past its Rick and Morty inspired looks as we all know, and tbf, there were some missteps in season 1 which I do not think is controversial to say. But over time, it captured the feel of Star Trek in a way that even VOY and ENT never really managed. THIS is what we wanted from PIC, Mr. Stewart, not whatever the heck you were selling. But I digress.

Sad to see it go but as I said a few pages ago I can see the real world reasons why. But, this is not guaranteed to be the end. And if it is, it is ALWAYS better to finish a show wanting more than wanting less. No one wants to be ''Happy Days after Fonzie jumped a shark'' y'know what I mean?

I mean it means nothing because Strange New Worlds is based on DISCO and they crossed over with that.

I'm surprised no one brought up one of the absolute best parts of Lower Decks. The show just... wants you happy. It is one of the most comforting shows I seen cause they clearly do show the characters get better, they improve, are friends, and hug each other. Mariner jokes on Boimler a lot but she is frankly way more kind to him than ANYONE in the Sanchez family in Rick and Morty. Tendi and Rutherford are the best buddies ever, the bridge crew are all friends and supportive of the lower decks... it's just a show where no one feels like a prick to the other for no reason. They have problems, can get mean, and sometimes go too far... but if you ignore the first two episodes (Which I did)... they FEEL like a family. A good one.

Clearspira, I'm glad you finally came around so you could enjoy this wonderful show. I'm curious as to what your thoughts about Rutherford are though. How do you feel about the ending he got and where the final episode took his character?

I still feel cheated length-wise. It wouldn't be unreasonable to want 7 seasons and a movie, considering each season was only ten half-hour episodes long. Think about how many hours of television it took TNG to reach Best of Both Worlds.

Two possibilities:

1) Get rid of SNW too. Unlikely but hey, it is an option.

2) There actually are considerable differences between the 1701 of DISCO and the 1701 of SNW both internally and externally. It wouldn't be that hard to rationalise these two ships away as being different versions of one another.

DISCO 1701:

Note in particular how the turbolift completely changes position and the amount of windows on the saucer section. And yes, I am that much of a geek that I count windows.
