McAvoy wrote: Fri Jan 31, 2025 2:54 am Well there is alot going on about reducing the size of the Federal employee workforce.

-No more remote working. Got to work in an office. This implies people who work from home don't work as hard as if they were in the office.

-Looks like they are offering 8 months of pay to leave their job.

-Also looks like they are offering a full months of pay and benefits for February if you resign at a certain date.

-Paying the Federal workforce costs about 4% I think of the budget. They employ about 2 million as well.

Also let's remember these people would be working at various departments that directly involve handling money and benefits to the public. Reduction of the Federal workforce would obviously create a huge backlog in everything.

For example, Veteran Affairs was just starting to get more efficient. Before that there were jokes about vets sitting in the waiting rooms for their benefits since they were discharged in WW2. Now it sounds like it could be even worse than that but now for everyone.

You know if you really want to cut down thd budget is to seriously look at the US military. It could be made more cost efficient without reduction of the size of the military. I am not talking about the top secret R&D or development of new weapons or vehicles.

Things like why was my squadron paying $80 for plastic polish that was identical to plastic polish that sold in Home Depot for $3.99 for example? Why are we using Snap On products when there are cheaper but near equal quality? The company called Icon is selling identical Snap On tools at Harbor Freight and why are they identical? Because it's owned by Snap On. Why are we buying Snap On torque wrenches when you can pay a third of the price from CDI Torque Products especially when they are also identical to Snap On and yes owned by them too.
Yeah Mc, but like... fuck the troops, but damn do we love the companies who give troops guns. We won't give the troops any benefits after their service... or during their service... but the guys who make 200,000 radios? They need another billion dollars! TAKE AWAY BENEFITS FOR VETERANS BLOWN UP BY OUR OWN MINES, PLEASE GIVE MORE TO RADIO MAKERS WHO'S RADIOS DON'T WORK!
Oh... You were about to hear a mouthful with that first sentence.

I am actually not that too concerned about the manufacturing part of it. It's skilled labor that requires skilled labor pay. It's more about dumping Windex into a white spray bottle and labeling it with military nomenclature and charging $100 per bottle. That's the sort of waste of I am talking about.

I was once told and I am not sure if it is right but these companies that do this, the $50 for a bottle of general cleaner. It's that there is some law where the military has to buy from US companies. So there are these companies where their product is solely just making this product for the military even if it's Windex in a white bottle and due to this law they can charge the US military a stupid amount of money.

Just as long as it's labeled according to military regulations. Which costs a fraction of a cent to do.

Military regulations though is a hard thing to get past. Has to be tested and approved (costs money) and technically cannot show preference over one company or the other. So, white bottles.
Let me clarify my fuck the troops. I have no hatred for any soldier of my country, (unless obviously they are awful), when I say fuck the troops... I mean that's how the government tends to do. Oh, you're in our service? Fuck you. You left? Fuck you. We'll PRETEND to praise you, but need anything to survive after you fought and nearly died and we actually had a hand in it? GO DIE! Remember, John Stewart had to FIGHT them to even admit that perhaps we should pay them for burn pits, or how Trump calls them suckers, or how the GOP COSNTANTLY cuts Vet services. They will pour in trillions to our military, and make sure not a single PENNY goes to the men and women who serve.

A reminder to all federal employees about the "buyout":

* Trump offered you the chance to resign and receive seventh months pay.
* This is so they can be replaced with Trump loyalists.
* Except this is an Elon Musk drafted letter repurposed to get Twitter employees to quit rather than be fired.
* Except Elon Musk never paid.
* Except the option actually was later clarified to be about remote working.
* A lot of these jobs aren't remote work.
* And then they started asking about their pensions, which Trump was evasive about because of course it is going to be cancelled.

It's a scam.

We also have Trump firing a bunch of aircraft control people right before the first major crash.

Then Trump blames it on DEI.

It's going to be a LONG four years.

To paraphrase Chuck, this has been a really long year... oh shit it's only January.

But to be completely horrible for a moment and I don't usually say things like this, seriously this is not something I do and I don't like that I'm about to say this, maybe we'll get lucky and Trump will have a stroke and die and or be incapable of doing anything and the rest of his yes men will be to busy stabbing each other in the back to carry out these stupid plans.

Again, I don't normally say things like this but this asshole is the reason one of my friends is dead so in this instance and I prey this becomes a one time thing with me I wish someone ill. I honestly hate that I'm even writing this but the fact that people honestly thought this fuck up who literally betrayed our country by causing a domestic terrorist attack in an attempt to overthrow the Government will remain one of the biggest WTF moments in the History of the World.

It wouldn't change anything, Trump is just a figurehead. The Heritage Foundation is running things now, they wrote the orders Trump signs and it's their people putting them into practice. Vance would be an even better puppet than Trump because unlike Trump he's a True Believer in turning America into Gilead.

I'd argue Trump has a power of audacity that Vance doesn't. If Vance was impeached for murdering a baby on live television and eating it, he'd probably be removed. If Trump did it, he'd somehow manage to make a pay per view event and sue the parents.

Agreed. But I also think there is truth in what Winter says if Trump were to die on the toilet between his third and fourth flushes while rage texting on his Truth Social, the power vacuum would be very large. Trump isn't just a figurehead but THE Cult Leader.
I got nothing to say here.

Especially when no one in this cult likes each other. I've yet to see any indication that Musk, Vance or anyone thinks of the other as anything but an annoyance and likely will turn on each other when given the option.

And that's it for me on this topic, I'm going back to talking about aliens named after vegetables before I go any further down this rabbit hole.

And humans and one part alien named after undergarments.

He's the cult leader of the voting block. Which we're never going to have a real election again so they no longer have any reason to care about.

I think it's too early to give up on elections altogether. At least, I hope so.
