1) Musk initially promised up to 2 trillion in savings from DOGE. He has now conveniently forgotten this promise and is now saying that he'll only save up to 150 billion. Which in the grand scheme of things is nothing when you factor in A) the harm the cuts have caused and B) the fact that Trump has already spent significantly more than this on other things. Meaning that Musk has in fact ''saved'' nothing at all and is effectively now openly admitting it.

2) Senior Trump officials who wish to remain anonymous described Musk to Rolling Stone magazine as ''annoying, unfunny, awkward and an obnoxious asshole.'' They question frequently whether he is on drugs. And unsurprisingly, he is apparently a very aggressive man in private.

I think Musk sold Trump on a lie. That he could actually save money where Trump could use that exact savings for his own purpose. Decrease taxes on the rich plus other programs. Also has the added benefit of having those Federal agencies that went after him getting reduced and less ineffectual.
