After dealing with what's probably SFDebris' most hated Enterprise episode (one I feel a bit awkward about myself), we get a plot advancing episode, a character building episode, and one I'm not quite sure how to classify.

Let's see, we've got one (hopefully intentionally) creepy episode, one (apparently unintentionally) preachy episode, one comedy episode, and one episode with an unexpected guest star. That's about the best I've got for descriptions this time.

I finish off the rest of Season One in this set, which includes such highlights as "Enterprise goes on vacation", "Archer and Tucker find themselves in weird and dangerous situations (twice)", "The Temporal Cold War has more grey morality than you'd think", and "Malcolm Reed is not getting paid enough for this job". Though that last one is mostly my personal opinion.

Season Two gets off to a decent start, with an ensemble-based jailbreak, a nod to classic sci-fi, a classic Star Trek period piece, and Malcolm getting more characterization (which admittedly is something I appreciate more than most). Sadly, the first episode of the next set isn't going to continue this trend...

We start off on a low note with what many consider to be the worst ever Enterprise episode, then improve a bit with a Magnificent Seven riff, then get two high-concept/low-execution plots. Well, at least it's not all bad...?

In this set, the crew's life gets disrupted by space radiation, two different storms, and alien kidnappers. They didn't have a good two months there, did they?

We get two blah episodes and two decent episodes this time around. It's probably not a coincidence that the two decent episodes are the ones that are connected to previous events. Episodes that are focused on overarching stories generally seem to be tighter.

Let's see, we have episodes that are trying to be a prison/prison break movie, a courtroom drama, a horror movie, and a heartwarming family drama. At least you have to give them credit for playing with genre.

Season Two closes out with an odd mix: two moral dilemmas, a return (or is it an introduction?) of a classic enemy, a flashback, treading well-worn ground with some continuity mixed in, and finally a serious shift in tone for the show. Well, variety is the spice of life, as they say...
