The country where England parks its nukes, less than 40 minutes drive (and about 25 miles as the fallout drifts) from its largest population centre. The country who has consistently voted for nuclear disarmament and still has to have England refusing to move its nukes to England. That country.

Leaving all the counterforce targets in another country so if the enemy launches a counterforce strike your country isn't affected?

The United Kingdom has its nuclear weapons kept on board Trident nuclear submarines stationed around the globe, and in (or technically nearby) Faslane Naval Base in Scotland (actually only a few miles from where I live).

Since Scotland is part of the United Kingdom the nukes are technically still in the country; however, the point is that they are in Scotland rather than in England, so many Scots are not particularly happy with this arrangement, including Scottish National Party which currently has a majority in the Scottish Parliament (many of their rivals parties oppose this arrangement as well).

CrypticMirror wants them out of Scotland and either got rid of totally, or sent down to Portsmouth (another Naval base, but in England) or the Thames river in London- in other words, if the English want nukes, keep them in England, not in Scotland.

They don't, but by virtue of being in NATO, they are protected by American nukes, giving all the benefits with none of the drawbacks.

One thing Chuck didn't mention was this was the first story filmed for the new series and was by all accounts a nightmare to make. With large parts having to be reshot later in the production of Series 1.

Rose is still...mostly bearable this early in the series. I think most of us who loathe her really only reserve that for when she starts to display not only an utter lack of empathy, but the show starts to pat her on the back for it. Here? She's fine, she's still normal and relatable.

I think that's what tips it. Flawed companions are fine, but RTD did not see Rose's selfishness and jealousy that bordered on vitriolic loathing for anyone the Doctor even SPOKE to as flaws, so that his constant propping it up as "so romantic" and some idyllic portrayal of the youthful female companion, that we just can't let it pass without comment xD

The way she treated her mother. (Mum, you're stupid.) The way she treated Mickey. (oh you were accused of murder and I'm also going to string you along romantically for a huge chunk of time) The way she treated Sarah Jane. (Hussy,) The way she treated 10 right after he regenerated. (He's not myyyy doctor anymore.)

She was constantly selfish and miserable to anyone and everyone that wasn't her... AND she's the one that gets a relative happy ending with her own perfect human Doctor clone? Meanwhile Martha goes through a multitude of personal hells and Donna gets her brain wiped?
