Teachers Strikes

This is for topical issues effecting our fair world... you can quit snickering anytime. Note: It is the desire of the leadership of SFDebris Conglomerate that all posters maintain a civil and polite bearing in this forum, regardless of how you feel about any particular issue. Violators will be turned over to Captain Janeway for experimentation.

What? College enrollment is at a historical high.
None of which has to do with the primary education and despite the efforts of the government. The public school system is in shambles and the college system functions in large part as for-profit businesses since government support for education has become loan sharking. It's part of why I left to become a full time writer because things were so damned depressing.

So if they hate education like the Nazis hated the Jews why are college enrollments so high?

People think they will be poor and die if they don't go to college? So they do everything they can to get college educations?

Because they probably will be poor and die if they don't have the education for the jobs available?

Is it set in stone that college will provide those skills for the job?

No, part of the real tragedy is that many people don't get the skills that will provide them a way to survive in the current job market or there is an abundance of candidates for too many jobs. Teachers, lawyers, and so on.

Not all education translates to moolah, sadly.
