Not that it comes as a huge surprise, but I'm glad to see it. Not so glad to see newspapers dragging out the "pansexual includes trans people, bisexual doesn't" bullshit despite Jannelle's attempts to set the record straight. (Or would that be set the record queer?)

I couldn't care if she came out as a toaster. Janelle's sexuality is irrelevant as is yours and mine and anyone else's.

Who? Is she the actor-/singer-/rapper-equivalent of a sack of rice in China?

Well, I do care, because I'm bisexual and it's nice to see out queer representation and role models in my community. I'm linking the buzzfeed article because it's accurate. I could rummage around for something in the Guardian or CNN.com if you prefer.
Madner...you don't know about Janelle Monae? Let me save you several seconds of research: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Janelle_Mon%C3%A1e

I can honestly say I've never heard of this person.
I will say though that one of the sad things about being bisexual is that they often tend to get crap from people one would think would be more understanding - gays and lesbians. Yeah, yeah, #NotAll and all that, but it's something I've noticed.

Admiral X, I've noticed that too, a lot. =/ We even get crap from some pansexuals saying that we're inherently transphobic and pulling that queerer-than-thou "bisexuals love parts, pansexuals love people!" shit.

Re: Janelle Monae comes out as Pansexual
Is there a meaningful difference between Pansexual and Bisexual or are they synonymous?
Re: Janelle Monae comes out as Pansexual
I don't care who you love as long as it's consensual. Beyond that it's your business what/who/how many you are attracted to and/or love.
My reaction to people's sexuality is ''yawn'' though.

AFAIK, bisexuals are into males and females, whereas pansexuals don't care about gender... maybe. New York City apparently protected 31 different gender identities, and I don't know if someone who objected to "two spirit" and accepted all the others would still qualify as pansexual or not.

Edit: I'm not being flippant. It neither breaks my bones nor picks my pocket, and if this makes Janelle happy, hey, why not?
