Why is the history of US intervention in Latin American countries cogent to the coinage of new English words to be used in discourse in English?
Do you, or Slash, have an argument that isn't a buzzword?
Like you can make the argument that Latinx is unnecessary because English already has a gender neutral term that everyone would contextually understand (Latin). But arguing that it is actively offensive would actually require more support than is being produced.

(PS the word "Latin" is not Spanish or etymologically rooted in Spanish, it is itself a loan word in Spanish as well.)
"In English, the terms latino and latina are sometimes shortened forms of American Spanish "latinoamericano" and "latinoamericana" which are New World expansions of the Old World terms "latino" and "latina" which are ultimately from the Latin terms latīnus and latīna meaning Latin."
Criticism:
"The use of the term Latino, despite its increasing popularity, is still highly debated among those who are called by the name.[31][32] Since the adoption of the term by the U.S. Census Bureau[33] and its subsequent widespread use, there have been several controversies and disagreements, especially in the United States and, to a lesser extent, in Mexico and other Spanish-speaking countries. Since it is an arbitrary generic term, many Latin American scholars, journalists, and indigenous rights organisations have objected to the mass media use of the word "Latino", pointing out that such ethnonyms are optional and should be used only to describe people involved in the practices, ideologies, and identity politics of their supporters.[34][35][36][37] Journalist Rodolfo Acuña writes"
" When and why the Latino identity came about is a more involved story. Essentially, politicians, the media, and marketers find it convenient to deal with the different U.S. Spanish-speaking people under one umbrella. However, many people with Spanish surnames contest the term Latino. They claim it is misleading because no Latino or Hispanic nationality exists since no Latino state exists, so generalizing the term Latino slights the various national identities included under the umbrella.[38]"

What exactly do you use by not using this one word to describe a certain minority? Why are you so determined to find a reason not to do it?
In short, you keep claiming that the bar for political correctness is unattainably high. From my perspective, it looks like the bar is set at ankle height and you are digging a trench to go under it.

An offended minority of a minority should not dictate how I live my life or what I can and cannot say.
