Then it's plain that Paramount basically sees Star Trek as their own sort of Marvelverse. Any truly interesting idea will have to be ground down to fit within the framework of a CG-heavy action-adventure with bankable stars. Sorry, Quentin.

m'eh. have no interest in seeing how the Kevlin or Discovery timelines plays out (or prequels). Kurtzman killed both universes for me, lol.

but I would be looking forward to see Chuck's or RLM/Plinkett's skewering (or praise) of the movies.

I've officially become an old man and will cocoon myself in TOS and TNG and even evil Janeway. I'm fine if I never see another new Trek installment again. your mileage will vary

S.J. Clarkson is an interesting choice. She's a TV director, and doesn't seem to have a lot of sci-fi experience outside of some superhero stuff. Trek movies seem to get lower budgets when the previous film failed, like Beyond somewhat did. Maybe she's been tagged with hopes that she can make a character-focused film with a lower budget.

Maybe Kirk will go back in time and prevent the Kelvin timeline from happening. I might actually watch the movie if that happens.

Ah, two things to hope for: the Star Trek II recipe of a focused story under at conscientious, competent director... and the utter destruction of the Star Trek Babies timeline.

The odds of the first are far and away better than the second, but one can always hope!

But why does God need a starship?

Using the next movie more or less reset the timeline would be well something. I have my doubts myself they would do that but you never know.

They already kind of did that in Dr. Strange with Strange reversing time to the point where Dormammu doesn't attack Hong Kong.
