I was just about to say: Both the "Star Wars Stories" were tremendous money-sinks, as they demanded repeated rewrites and reshots. Rogue One is drastically different from the original draft and it's still visible in the Trailer versus actual movie even. Solo seriously took the cake, as they apparently essentially had to finance the movie twice.

In the USA, Native Americans were traditionally portrayed as two-faced, treacherous, and untrustworthy by racists who wanted their land. Chief, as a smuggler in a generic costume with a couple of feathers to indicate his "Injunn-Ness" who sells to both sides, fits easily into that stereotype.

He's the guy who makes the smoke signals, too. couldn't they have had some other character do that???
Native Americans had been portrayed with more nuance for decades.
So? That changes nothing.
You think Wonder Woman creators think Native Americans have inferior genes, brain size or inherently wicked hearts?

Slash/Worffan, take that to PM. Don't clog up the thread with a discussion not related to the thread topic.
Thread ends here. Cut along dotted line.

I afraid the new crop of SW creators along with some of the old crop decided that the swamp of 21. century politics is the part of Star Wars now. I seen an another site being able to ban politics before the Disney takeover and being unable to do it after TFA came out.

But you are the mod so i will stop engaging him, but expect constant political talk outbreaks. It's inevitable.

Feel free to talk a discussion about politics if they're at least relevant to the subject at hand. Not a pointless back and forth about something completely tangential.

My apologies, should've kept it to Star Wars rather than going so far into detail with the DCEU comparison.

The big problem, IMO, is the attitude of "we want half the people who see the movie to hate it; the more controversial it is the better."

Having that kind of attitude might be perfectly fine if you're creating an independent film on your own dime purely for art; but if you're being bankrolled by a major studio like the House of Mouse to make an installment in one of their film franchises, don't be surprised if the higher ups give you a gentle tap on the shoulder to remind you that they see things a bit differently and that they control the purse strings.

I don't really see any evidence of that attitude.

There's a video of Rian Johnson saying he prefers a movie to be divisive, with some loving it and others hating it. It's from years ago, but Johnson haters are taking delight in it. I'd link it, but pretty much every video is from an anti-Johnson video with someone ranting about him, so just look up 'Rian Johnson Wanted to Divide Fans'

Johnson haters would take delight if Rian Johnson was discovered to have parked his car incorrectly. At a guess most of those videos have taken what he said out of context in order to further their own agenda.
