That strut is annoying as hell. It is made up for with the ship's incredible engine noise and all-round combat effectiveness though. The FDL is basically a space Ferrari with severe need to open compensate on it's hardpoints. A mid life crisis of extreme destructive potential.
I do prefer the Vulture for overall cockpit, aesthetics and feel. For space murder though, the FDL can't be beat.
Outfitting for PVP and picking up skills for that seems to involve a lot of research and practise. We'll see if I ever make the BSPH a good revenge ship.
Never knew about that little book. To confess though, I never flew in a Sidewinder. I picked up the Imperial Bounty hunter package when the kickstarter was first out. Got myself in an my Eagle to start with and a nice coffee mug.
I did find my old Elite II box and all the manuals the other day though.

Re: Elite Dangerous
Here's the manual tucked away in the Sidey:
To be honest what mostly happened with E:D is that I'd fire it up occasionally, jump into a system I knew I could fine some painite, and mine that whilst listening to old SFdebris reviews in the background. Exciting stuff!
My original 1984 Elite manual is still around somewhere, minus its cover, although I've also got a second hand copy I bought more recently with all the bits in. On yours, two floppy discs for a whole game, how times have changed!
I've not tried the Vulture since I got the VR headset, but I did have quite a bit of fun with it beforehand. Re: Elite Dangerous
I always like little easter eggs like that
The Vulture's cockpit is great in VR as it adds that extra perspective. It's very large and roomy with a large vertical view that's great for Elite's roll and pitch focused flight system. Sadly lacks the coffee machine from the medium sized Core Dynamics ships.
From the Frontier books it has the collection of short stories including Jacques the Bartender. The owner of the station that ended up in what is now known as Colonia.
I've done similar with listening to some Audio books and SFdebris's stories while I'm doing my space trucking. In the Oculus VR beta you can also import a desktop window into your view while you play, so you can Netflix while you space truck.
I think that Frontier and it's entire procedural galaxy only came on one actual floppy disk. The second one was for alternate start points and saves. It was incredible they managed so much with so little storage space. 900kbs for the entire game. That's the size of ten HTML emails.
Actually had the Amiga CD32 version which was the best release of the game. Had many bugs fixed, added a Nav computer and removed the awful copy protection. Was still incredibly lazy, they didn't even bother to add any CD audio tracks and didn't use any of the CD-Rom's storage space.

Re: Elite Dangerous
Didn't know that, will have to give it a try, thanks. Would be even greater if there was a monitor on the ship you could put the window in to There used to be one on the seat between the legs (it didn't do anything) but it was removed a while back for some reason.
Re: Elite Dangerous
New job has kept me busy of late but I've managed to catch up in Elite with a new spaceship.
The Corellian YT-1300.... I mean Falcon DeLacy Krait Mk2.
Fresh off the factory line, and her interior already looks like she was built like a 13 year old's first custom gaming rig half made from discarded mid nineties office computer cases. Just goes to show that DeLacy don't believe in things like cable management when duct tape will do.
Still, comes with a coffee machine.
She's a wonderful Thargoid hunting ship.

All I know is that you don't select the mystery juice unless you've fitted http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/C ... Cargo_Rack
