Nice pieces! I only know of them from Blackest Night and an episode of Justice League Unlimited, myself.

I read and enjoyed the SuperSons / Blue Falcon+DynoMutt crossover. It's somewhat darker than the DynoMutt cartoons, but fun.

In other news, heads are rolling at DC. Geoff Johns is leaving, and another executive's leave became permanent.

Hey, everyone. Can anywhere tell me more about the history of DC? See, I've been downloading comics galore, and I know some of the eras and ages. I know about the Golden Age, Silver Age, and the Pre-Crisis era, then the Crisis on Infinite Earths, and then the Post-Crisis era. Then the New 52 reboot, or the Post-Flashpoint era. But what about the Rebirth era? How does that fit into this? There's so much I want to learn with all this, since it would help me with my own fanfics, and especially since I love to debate who would beat who.

This isn't exhaustively researched, and not everyone agrees where all the ages start and stop. A useful reference is the TV Tropes guide to comic book ages.

The Golden Age and Silver Age of DC comics pretty much run with a general Golden and Silver Age of comics.

The Golden age was before and around WW 2, when modern superhero comics were introduced.

For a while superheroes got a lot less popular and comics shifted into westerns, mysteries, etc. Then the Silver Age came with DC re-introducing and re-inventing some superheroes. A new Flash, a new Green Lantern, etc. The Silver Age was silly and less serious than the Golden Age.

The Silver Age is often considered to have ended with the death of Gwen Stacy, and the Bronze Age began, then drifted into the Dark Age of comics where the characters being pushed had names like Commander BludDethKut, more muscles than a herd of Schwarzeneggers, and costumes with lots of straps and pockets.

Pre-Crisis just means before Crisis on Infinite Earths. Crisis on Infinite Earths reset a lot of the DC setting. A lot of characters got revamped somewhat -- for example, pre-Crisis Superman people could push planets around, and post-Crisis was strong but not nearly that level.

The New 52 in 2011 revamped the characters again (Superman lost his red trunks, Wonder Woman got pants, Barbara Gordon was un-paralyzed), often trying to make them more accessible and more racially diverse, though it has been criticized for what some consider some steps backward in that regard. In-universe, Flash was involved in Flashpoint, which changed history, and then it was kinda-of sort-of changed back.

Rebirth was another revamp of the characters, undoing much of the New 52. Pre-Flashpoint Superman came back and was merged with the New 52 Superman, for example.
