I think this kinda sums up the problem, not with the franchise but with Disney's approach to it. They know the original trilogy was a huge hit and they seemed to be terrified of getting too far away. Everyone complained about the prequels being nothing like the originals and now Disney seems to be doing the opposite, making movies that are too much like the originals. The Force Awakens felt almost like a parody rather then a sequel.SlackerinDeNile wrote: ↑Thu Jun 21, 2018 10:56 pm I don't like having a Star Wars film or two come out every year, Disney made that work with the Marvel cinematic universe because there was much more to work with there.
So Fox was able to make the MCU work because they had more material? Batman and Spiderman are each a near media empire based on a handful of people living in one specific city and you are telling me Disney can't build a franchise when they have an entire galaxy and over a thousand generations of history? What more do you need?
Tolkien crafted an entire universe of stories with a single world to work with and Disney can't do it with a whole galaxy?
