Every time I think I'm sufficiently desensitized and that I know what to expect, President Neelix still manages to prove to me that I have a soul left to wither and a heart left to sicken.

What do you expect? He is literally the stupidest person ever to hold the office, by a long shot. He watches nothing but Fox News and stays up late watching the cranks even they think are too nuts for prime time.

Anyway, ignoring the overheated alt-right crap a few people are spewing, the simple issue here is that the African National Congress is notoriously corrupt, the end of apartheid didn't do much for poor black people economically, and poor black people are getting together and getting really fucking pissed that the ANC has gotten obscenely wealthy while they keep living in the same shitty housing.

This is a populist move by the ANC and some other parties looking to ride the same wave, and it's shitty and stupid for the same reason that Trump's border-wall bullshit is shitty and stupid. It's being done for the same reason Trumpler wants to build that idiotic wall, it's a distraction from the real issues being pushed by a hilariously corrupt bag of dicks to fire up their base and point them at someone else.

There's no "white genocide" going on, just a really shitty form of eminent domain. It's like Trump's 'tender age facilities'; there's no organized genocide of immigrants going on yet, but it's still incredibly shitty and being done to distract from the fact that the regime is more corrupt than a hypothetical lovechild of '90s Russia, Lichtenstein, and Malaysia.

It's a nigh universal sentiment. Our own government employs a similar set of standards when it comes to applying for asylum. It's not enough to say "My home country has a lot of crime and I'm afraid I'll be victimized again." It that were true, every Colombian that sets foot on American soil would qualify for asylum. You have to show that you are being made a specific target because of your race, sexual orientation, religion...something.

And frankly, I don't think white people in SA can make that claim, at least not yet. Yes, SA sucks and seems to be on the fast track to getting worse, but as of right now, it sucks for everyone more or less equally. I certainly sympathize with the Endre family; if I lived in SA, I suspect I would be doing everything I could to get my children out of the country. But there's nothing usual about how they're being treated by Canadian authorities - they would get the same response in pretty much every western nation. At least, as of right now.

I wouldn't read anything into that. I just picked Colombia because Bogota was infamous a while back for having an absurd murder rate. I haven't actually checked crime rate statistics lately, though I suspect Mexico has rocketed up the charts.

Colombia has had a low-grade civil war between the government, fascist and right-wing paras, and communist rebels for more than half a century, and they just ended most of the conflict this past year. (The right-wing paras mostly got brought to heel after the US lost interest in the early '90s thanks to the Soviets collapsing) Most undocumented immigrants these days are from Central America, since the Mexicans have basically sent us everybody who wanted to come to the USA already (and because we treat them like subhuman trash and so Mexicans kind of think we're loudmouthed assholes now, a not entirely inaccurate image).
