Patrick Stewart to return as Picard?

Oh... dear... this... does not inspire confidence with me after STD and how thoroughly they shredded the continuity. Will the Dominion even be mentioned at all? I know tons of people hate DS9 and the more mainstream prefer TNG over that, even though DS9 was the superior show. Well... I could totally see them forgetting large parts of the continuity given the idiots in charge. If they brought some of the old writers like Ron Moore back? Maybe. MAYBE. But after what they've done to Star Wars, I'm not confident.

Seriously? I value a tight continuity in Trek. This is something Ron Moore understood. And people hated DS9, so I can just feel it, they're going to destroy the previous canon. My worst fear is they'll get the treatment the Klingons have, with altered looks for the Jem'Hadar, changing the motives of the Founders, and so on and so forth. We got a batch of idiot writers who don't understand what made Trek so beloved back in the 1990s...

What made it beloved besides facing less competition?

I refer you to Ron Moore's interview where he said a tight continuity is essential to helping Trek grow.

Here's a man I feel really had a beat on the soul of the franchise.
