I also hope they keep the Terry Chen character for a while! What a great character!

I forgot to share this for you before. Sorry. Better late than never right?MissKittyFantastico wrote:I'm an episode behind, but boy howdy am I adoring Admiral vas Sexyvoice (Avasarala for the non-Mass Effect fans). Her fire and brimstone speech to Errinwright was magnificent to behold - I wouldn't even have questioned it if the shadows started flowing up the walls behind her like when Gandalf loses his cool.

Why aren't there novels yet of Captain Paris before she took the promotion to Yorktown, charging around in a starship putting the fear of god into Klingons?
I'm getting a glimmer of a headcanon where, before she hung up her spurs, she was that era's version of The Sisko.

When Shohreh Aghdashloo took the part, she may have created that very background herself.

It's a Google Talk with her. She apparently likes science fiction, she mentions loving the series Sense8.

I really hope I don't come off as monopolizing this thread. It's just that the more I dig into this show, the more I find that I like. I think y'all will like this as well. This is a panel discussion from January with people from the show and from CalTech discussing the science behind the show.

Have you been listening to the official podcast? They had Phil Plait "the Bad Astronomer" guest star on the show.MadAmosMalone wrote:I really hope I don't come off as monopolizing this thread. Way cool and thanks for the linkage. I follow Plait on Facebook and if he ever mentioned this, I missed it.
Re: The Expanse Season 2
Last episode was one of my favorites. I did like the little bits of world building they did for Earth. The whole sub culture in "New" New York was fascinating. Bobbie telling Avasarala to "screw off" was very in character and I would have been disappointed if she talked to her. I accidently got a spoiler when I checked out the Wikipedia page for the novels and I wonder if they will take Bobbie on the arc leading to that spoiler.
I wonder why the "shadow" government is misleading the Ganymede station into believing they will recover when it appears it won't. I would like to see Terry Chen's Prax Character to stay with the group, but I don't see a reason why he would once his daughter's story arc comes to some conclusion. Definitely hooked to watched the rest of the season. And I saw that SyFy has already green lighted Season 3!

what prax said about ganymead being dead but not knowing yet is rather defeatist. the problem is right now that th the remaining life support systems are now operating above capacity, the more non essential personnel they ship out of ganymead the easier the burden will be and reconstruction can get properly underway

Re: The Expanse Season 2
I'm also glad about a season 3. I dunno anything about the books or Bobbie Draper so it's good to see her develop and maybe find out what everyone's talking about. For me, so far, the only thing I can really say about her is she's tough. She took a tumble off that building that would have ruined an Earther's day let alone a comparitively "fragile" Martian. I'm glad she got to see the ocean. Can't stand the thing, myself. Always hated the water. Don't even like being made of the stuff.
I do also agree about Terry Chen. I wish he would stay on, if for no other reason than that would give the Rocinante crew the "five man band" trope. Alex remains my favorite character. He's just so goofy and relatable. All he did was drink and sing Country songs this episode. Amos seems to be going "mad" (see what I did there?) by degrees. This ep he got positively scary with "Chicken Man." Despite Holden's assurances to Naomi, I really don't think he has as much control as he thinks he does. I do understand Amos' reasoning. I hate bullies too but I don't go around clubbing people over the head. I guess we can't argue that it did get his attention (and cooperation.) I can't help but think back to our "Political Violence" thread on this board.
Back to Terry Chen's character for a moment. I wish he would not only find his daughter but find a way to bring the people to justice who spaced his friend a couple of episodes back.
Yeah I'm really starting to dig this show.
