Capitalism can work, like it did in the 1950s or the 1990s. I'm just against unregulated capitalism.

I've seen it called a purple puddle, which seems a pretty good name for it.

I'd still count it as a win for the Democrats, if not in numbers then at least strategically, and probably enough of a win that they probably won't do the soul-searching they may have done after the 2016 election.

The Republicans can probably think of all the ameliorating factors (they were defending more territory, they had more success in the senate than history suggests they should in the midterms when they hold the presidency, etc.) so I don't expect any real soul-searching there, either.

So I expect if you liked the last two years in politics, you'll probably like the next two just as much.

Joy. More of the same will be so great. When do we get to burn this down?

Just get a nuke and set them off in the undersea trenches. That would burn down the system far faster than you can imagine.

I was going to do a Kickstarter to steer a comet into the Earth, but I got stuck wondering what the sign-up bonuses would be.

Top tier would obviously have to be a space suit & a cowboy hat, so they could ride it in like Slim Pickens.

It was always going to be close. One side taking one house and one side taking the other was always my prediction. I think the reason for Trump taking so much ground 2 years ago was more to do with people being anti-Hillary than pro-Trump. My knowledge is limited over what her campaign was like as I am not American, but from what I saw she was a more-of-the-same kind of candidate who was banking hard on her genitals getting her elected.

I never thought we'd take all of Congress, and I urged Mom to realize this. Especially when she had to admit the Senate is gerrymandered to hell. And no, clearspira, you're completely wrong. Saying Clinton was all about being a woman candidate is missing the point. If anything, she struck me more as Obama's third term, or a return to the values we had in the 1990s. But you are right about some people being more anti-Clinton than pro-Trump. Though the reverse is true. There are some people who were more anti-Trump than pro-Clinton. And the same held true for Sanders as well. It was a very conflicting time. And it will be even more so if another woman wins the nomination in 2020. I hope Kamala Harris does. This country could use a good kick in its patriarchal nuts and finally get a female President. How pathetic is it that we're that far behind the rest of the world? Germany, the country that murdered huge populations of people, has had a female leader? That's how low we've sunk, people. That's how patriarchal and conservative we are...

The Senate is not gerrymandered. Heck, the Senate CAN'T be gerrymandered, given that all Senate elections are State-wide.

It was a terrible Senate map for the Democrats, though.
